  • Good movie

By far one of the better trek movies, not that that is a high bar.

    Thank god:

    Spoiler:
they didn't go back in time and save Vulcan...

Yuck. I skipped Nemisis, it looked terrible.

      • So since it seems to run well we may get several movies with the new crew? Will they solve any problems now by including time travel/alternate stuff or will they just not care about TOS anymore now that this once is a success?

        Ahh, what important questions!

          • Big meh... I didn't like it. The story was lame, IMO, especially when the bad guys were involved. I also didn't like the ship battles: you can't see anything. The cast, OTOH, was pretty good. The new Spock and McCoy were my favorites. That said, playing Spock probably isn't a huge challenge for an actor

If it makes you feel better, the actors feel the same about it too.

They should make another episode of Enterprise that actually shows that the show is a seperate third paralel universe and has nothing to do with the reboot or the TOS/TNG/VOY/DS9 timelines.

                  • I'm gonna come out here. Dare I say it? I like all the star trek movies (though 1 was a bit on the boring side). Even the "bad" ones are watchable. And are better than some of the crappier shows like Voyager and Enterprise. I admit Insurrection is forgettable. I really can't remember that much about the plot, other than data trying to tell jokes or something. Nemesis was all right.

Many people consider 5 to be the worst, but it had its good points. Though it probably is the worst after 1 and 9. I still watch 5 whenever I happen to catch it on a cable channel (though I don't have cable anymore).

New one I'll probably see tuesday in IMAX. I never seen an imax movie before, so we'll see if it is worth it.

                    • Man, the first one was one of the best. No way the save-the-whales movie is better than the first one. I agree with you on the Wrath of Khan, though.

                        • the main reason I rank 3 up that high is I see it more as a continuation of the genesis storyline. Which I feel is one of the better plots of the ST universe. And it wraps up that storyline. The main problem is the absence of spock throughout most of the movie

But as I said I like a good sci fi concept like genesis, instead of the same ole' time travel rehash. But I think it will be good in this movie as it allows them to "rewrite" the star trek timeline from what I understand. And throw out all that pesky canon that clogs up the creative writing process. With 5 tv shows and 10 movies they kind of wrote themselves into a corner. Now they can start fresh.

                            • This movie was close to reaching Crystal Skull bad as far as having a stupid plot that makes no sense, and the villians sucked.

The casting/acting was good and the visuals awesome, which saved it for me.
