Face it these are good quality cars. I've quoted two sources J.D. Powers and Consumer Reports and you're the one claiming I can't admit being wrong? I'd say the problem is you not admitting you're wrong.
Funny how the "Outback" is actually a different car from the "Impreza"

The reocurring problem here is you make claims and not admitting you were wrong. Both consumer reports and J.D. Powers say you are wrong and that Subaru makes excellent quality cars.

So they did, but that's irrelevant. For a few reasons, not the least of which is it's suspect considering that's the timeframe that the Imprezas were having famous reliability problems (as discussed).

I didn't say they were a wholly unreliable car, just that it's not that great. And this remains true, because I know a lot of people with Subarus and my brother's girlfriend's uncle also works for Subaru Canada (they drive Toyotas).

They're just not top notch cars. They're not THAT reliable, and in fact they are famous for having design flaws historically that lead to expensive reliability problems.

If I had as much time as you do, I'd search the archive 2 years ago for the thread where you spent dozens of posts railing against Consumer Reports' methodologies for the hilarity of it, but I'm watching hockey.

JD Powers says Buick and Ford make excellent quality cars, too. They don't. JD Powers is ABSOLUTELY worthless.

Consumer Reports IS more reliable but you need to figure out the difference between short and long-term reliability.

The other thing is you need to go back to my claim: they have "not so great" reliability. I still stand by that, because I've seen it first hand anecdotally and I also can see plenty of examples online from other sources like Edmunds which show suspect engine reliability in Subaru models.

So, Oerdin, despite your absolutely valiantly pathetic attempts here to nitpick on one thing in a thread where you've been consistently wrong, you need to understand that there is no absolute "EXCELLENT QUALITY" fact you can post to for Subaru.

I don't believe it to be EXCELLENT QUALITY, because I've been in many and I know people who own them and have seen statistics otherwise. Your standards may be lower, but that doesn't make me wrong.

            Thanks,
Anyway you asked for a recommendation which has AWD, gets decent milage, seats 3 adults, and is around $25k. I'd go for this car with the 6 cyl boxer engine.

Now I'm off to watch a movie.

                Thanks,
I really dig the Ford Edge, around $26k.

That, and the new Ford Fusion.

Oh, I understand the Nguyen is the most common name but DanS's original position was that Nuguyen was not a Vietnamese name. I believe I have pwnd him on that claim.

You knob. It's called the Impreza Outback because the Outback is just what Subura calls a Wagon. BTW The Legacy is just a stretched Impreza (the suspension, engine, and most of the car is the same that's why they say it is the same "platform"). The AWD system does change depending on the engine and transmission combo you choose though.

BTW the Fusion looks nice and Consumer Reports also says its quality comparable to the Accord and Camry. J.D. Powers also rates it highly. I hope there are optional larger wheels though because those wheels look to small for the car.

German cars never break down (no seriously, a recent study shows that they do so most rarely when compared to other cars).

My manager's Audi has broken down twice in the past six months, while at high speed on the highway. The mechanics aren't really sure what's wrong. Each one gives a different answer and a big bill.

My dad had a VW Beatle in the 70s until the breaks gave out coming down Pike's Peak in Colorado...
