Why? It makes the Republicans look soulless, headless, directionless, and leaderless. Why would the Dems not want to focus on this? On top of it all, putting Limbaugh in the position of being the "face" of the GOP is tremendously in their favour, considering he is a polarizing no-bones-about-it douchebag.
You are president of the United States, and you are focussing on a talk-show radio personality? I mean really.
Sure Obama's going to blast it out of the park, but the real question is, why does Rush even make your radar?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Oh, and FWIW, Michael Steele is an idiot. What ever happened to the Reagan doctrine of never speaking ill of conservatives?Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

And the 11th Commandment, btw, is NOT about "conservatives". It's about "Republicans". As Ronnie said "People who agree with us 80% of the time are not our enemies".“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Because he's the most important leader of the Republican Party (with the possible exception of Palin). How many hours after Limbaugh pushed back did Steele go on bended knee?
The Dems couldn't have written a better script. And all it took the trigger this damage were a couple off-hand remarks. What Ramo said. Rush is now the strawman of the right wing, and Obama helped set it up. I'm sure it was intended to alienate moderates from the GOP, but the side show of right-wing cannibalism makes Obama look like a genius.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

If he really had power and pull inside the beltway, they wouldn't be attacking him.
They attack him, not because he's the Republican leader, but because he speaks out openly against the Holy Book of the big O.

That is what this exercise is all about. The only reason the Dems are attacking Palin and Rush is because they are outspoken against the O. The idea being to pick off the weak from the herd.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Your last sentence also doesn't fly. It makes sense for the dems to prop up the weak in the herd. What this really says is that the dems feel Palin and Limbaugh are weak.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

That certainly isn't what I said. They're using Palin's and Limbaugh's narrow definition of conservatism to show to America and say, "This is what the GOP is today."
The vast majority of Americans are turned off by them and if the believe it in part or in whole they will be less likely to support the GOP in the future.

Secondly, you are attacking Rush's base as well, which is going to consolidate your opposition. If the Republicans are weak and divided you shouldn't interfere with their deliberations. BY targetting one aspect of the party, you will end up uniting the Republicans.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

It's quite simple. Obama acts nice publicly and calls for continued bi-partisanship while the dems subtly give the GOP enough rope to hang themselves. Bush did it well while in power and the dems learned his tactics.
No, you misunderstand. They are picking off the folks like Steele who don't have the courage in their convictions. The only problem with this tactic, is that you are making Rush and Palin, much much stronger then they would be otherwise.
The dems are, IMO, more concerned about a black moderate in power in the GOP than a far-right blowhard and dimwit governor who has already been cast aside by the electorate. None of their supporters will switch to the Democratic party anytime soon if ever. They've nothing to lose and everything to gain by propping up Rush and Palin as strawmen.
