  • Are you talking about Tort Reform, TMM?

If so, I can't imagine that being nearly enough. If not, please do explain further. I'm curious.

Healthcare is, IMO, THE problem we face in the near future.

Wage growth to keep up with technological progress and innovation in the healthcare industry, rather than ending technological progress and innovation to match falling wages.

They can only do so much and still get the government re-elected.

The insurance industry is very efficient. Unfortunately in the Healthcare industry that makes costs go up, not down.

That just speaks to how efficient they are in their other operations.

Nope. The first HMO was Kaiser Permanente, a creation of Kaiser Steel in Fontana California.

                      • While I am fine with the Obama economics (it isn't great, but surely no worse than Bush), some of his other things (Yukka Mt., unless he knows a lot more than me) are quite suspect.

Wrong. It's much worse than Bush.

The Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 forced the HMO onto the market by giving it assured access to the employer-based market and without which I highly doubt we'd be talking about them today.

As for Kaiser Permanente, its history dates back to the year 1933 and a tiny hospital in a little town called Desert Center, California. At that time, Kaiser and several other large construction contractors had formed an insurance consortium called Industrial Indemnity to meet their workers' compensation obligations.

Without which we'd really have very limited health insurance, and people would die/go bankrupt when they got sick just like in the good old days, and by good I mean
