Same here. 18, took a day off uni to spend with my girlfriend (She was 17 at the time, go me!), didn't make it back for a couple of days. Fortunately in Britian we don't have to rely on cars- strangely, both of her parents worked, and so we had the house to ourselves for the afternoon.
