Show me. And it has to be clear, not an assumption that he behaved that way. You're basing his entire character of this, so you had better back it up. (Yes, you are. Otherwise, you wouldn't have used this example. Now prove it!)

Yeah, and I have to agree with you Lor on believing anyone's claims that he's a reformer. I do have to give the edge to McCain on that one since there's actually a bill with his name on it. But as many have stated here, that was a long time ago and they feel he's sold out since then. I'd like to think that he's just posturing to get elected, but you can't trust anybody that says trust me.
And if he's not posturing, your opinion will change?

    • The point is that he did the right thing. You can't criticize him for deliberating...

        • Rah: I'm suprised you failed to mention his actions as a soldier for Stroger or his support of Daley and his machine after indictments were handed down.

What difference would it make... it seems the Obamaites are convinced he walks on water and can do no wrong. Talk about being snowed by the media...

People in Chicago have seen his "act" for years... for him to be positioning himself as the white knight against corruption and for change is simply funny.
But as can be seen in this thread, the rock opera he is presenting is being believed by many.

              • Stroger :shudder:

God I hope Forrest or someone else can take him out in the next election. His incompetence and cronyism at the cost of the county has pretty much screwed over the county for years, and taxes are going to keep going up while services go down to pay his cronies off and keep him in power.

                • That's because it's easy to throw around corruption claims without facts. Don't you watch McCain's ads?

They aren't accusing the man of corruption only questioning his aura as a reformer by looking at the times he was in a position to provide change we can believe in and failed to take action.

Well, McCain's time as one of the Keating Five doesn't figure promenantly in the news much - and its not something that McCain supporters acknowledge much either.

I guess that being in a cage erases all future sin....

It's mostly because McCain acknowledges it over and over (read his books) and credits it for his turning the corner.

                          • I've never claimed that McCain is perfect, and I know he has his faults. I'm judging him now based on the issues.
And NO, I don't agree with him on all the issues. We disagree on many points. But I disagree with him far less than I do with Obama. He's not the perfect candidate... and neither is Obama. It just seems like many Obamaites can't see the warts on their candidate.
They are there... but "some" seem caught up in the media rock star image and are ignoring reality

You only say that because you are overawed by his presence.

I'm a Obama supporter but I have repeatedly stated that I think he will be unsuccessful in many of his programs, that I don't think his budget numbers add up, and that I disagree with him on several positions, including healthcare and nuclear power.

Rather, it is McSame's supporters who seem to be marching like lemmings idown the well trod path that Bush has blazed.

                              • As someone who first supported Richardson, then Hillary, and now Obama, I have never thought that he was perfect, nor bought the change meme as some have, but I agree with Obama in most issues, and the fact that he had the brains to edit the Harvard Law Review, and be a popular Law Professor at UofC, plus his stance on positions to me shows he is a much better candidate for the times than McCain, specially since I agree with few of McCain's positions.

And rabid Obama detractors have as unrealisitc a negative image of him as rabid supporters have a positive view of him. After all, didn't you know he is an America hating secret Muslim?
