      • But I'm not delusional to believe the McCain walks on water and will solve all the ills of the world. Obama does seem to be selling himself as the one that will save us all, I think it's all smoke and mirrors and I prefer not to have a smoke and mirrors person in the WH. SO I get to choose what I believe as everyone else does. This doesn't make me a selfish bastard, just a realist.

I don't think that it's smoke and mirrors to say that we can move towards certain public policies that much of the developed of the world have already successfully implemented (i.e. on health care, where our system is uniquely ****ty).

Yeah, but I'm not one of the problem posters, so I'm allowed to throw around insults without repercussions. Inconsistency.

            • Christ, I was wrong; you're actually swayed by our ridiculous media. It's not so much that you're selfish but that you're gullible. You think you'd know better, what with your ****ing twin brother being a goddamn ad man.

You should choose your president based on smart and sound policy decisions, not on how he makes you feel or other stupid **** like that.
Hmm, we've been watching his career for about 12 years since he's a local kid. So if you think my opinion is based on a couple of news articles, you're not just clueless but an idiot on top of it.

Hmm just last week I called obama out for not supporting the corruption bill for the state of illinois (you can look for the thread). All of the OBAMA people here defended it saying it was just a state issue and not of concern for a national politician. Or saying that there was no proof that he had even heard the request. Geee a week later he caved from the outside pressure and stood up to the plate and made the call. When it was raised on the floor it won 55-0. He made the call because he was taking flack for not making the call, not that he was concerned about ethics. What a hypocrite. I don't need the papers to see through his smoke. His actions speak louder. Even Obama has stated that his dealings with resko were a lapse of judgment, but he still lied about how much money he raised for him a few times.

              • It's very difficult to draw conclusions based on legislative history. Depending on various details, politicians can vote for or against or not at all on a bill regardless of whether or not they support the intent of the bill.

This is part of why senators don't often do well during presidential campaigns. Their records can be twisted to mean that they're against babies, for nazism, or anything in between.

Reasons why a legislator would choose to abstain from voting on a particular bill include: the legislator knows that the bill will pass overwhelmingly and it doesn't require the legislator's active support.

                • You have no idea what you're talking about. The Illinois reform bill had nothing to do with his voting record......

                  Pay attention.
It was a bill in front of the state legislature that Obama isn't part of. DOH One of our state hack democrats wouldn't bring it to the floor for a vote. Certain reformists that were friends of Obama asked him to call and squeeze the hack like a pimple to let it come to the floor for a vote. OBAMA did not do so untill a week after the request was published in the paper. Followup articles appeared questioning his true desire about reform in goverenment. So OBAMA did the right thing but only after being made to look stupid for not doing it originally.
Some PAPERS praised Obama for making the call saying it proved he was a great reformer. That was the bull****.
But then people that were paying attention knew the truth and weren't fooled.

                    • A week later. He did the right thing only after taking flack for not doing it. If you can't see the difference, I can't convince you. A person really interested in reform would have made the call before he took the flack. GEEZE

                      • He quite possibly might have a few other things on his plate at the moment. When was the last time that McCain intervened in an Arizona legislative battle?

My apologies. I thought you were referring to something that happened while he was part of the State Senate.

                          ...

As far as Obama being a reformer and all of that... yeah, I just can't give a ****. I have no belief that he's going to change Washington, and anyone who does is delusional. Further, anyone who takes into account the reformer crap when it concerns their vote is also delusional.

You should choose your president based on smart and sound policy decisions, not on the meaningless rhetoric he spews.

                          • The point is that he did the right thing. You can't criticize him for deliberating. Well, you can, but you'll look like a douche.

                            • Not if he wouldn't have done the right thing if he wasn't looking like an idiot. It was pressure in the press that made him step up to the plate. If you refuse to see simple fact, you're the one that looks wet. Yes his backer fanboys defended him by saying he was deliberating it. But he didn't start deliberating it until his not doing it was spread in all the papers. Not the time prior.

Yeah, and I have to agree with you Lor on believing anyone's claims that he's a reformer. I do have to give the edge to McCain on that one since there's actually a bill with his name on it. But as many have stated here, that was a long time ago and they feel he's sold out since then. I'd like to think that he's just posturing to get elected, but you can't trust anybody that says trust me.
