"Roughly as unqualified"?
She's a small time politician. 5,000-person town mayor and then governor of a state for only two years that any idiot could govern due to their resources and federal funding. She was also a sportscaster and fisherman.
You compare that to Obama's history both as a senator in a real state in addition to what he did before (teach law, etc) then it's hard to say that they're the same in terms of qualifications.
Palin is a PTA-mom that was in the right place at the right time, period...
WTF does teaching anything--law or otherwise--have to do with leading the country? Having a law school education might put him a touch ahead, but you can't call it experience.
Otherwise they both have experience in piddly-ass local government (state senator, mayor of dinky town) and a couple of years in a more prominent role (junior senator, governor). Having never been governor of Alaska I can't say for sure how easy or hard it is, but she certainly fought like all hell to get there. I haven't read anything that suggests the position was simply given to her; WaPo says she actually went after the head of Alaska's GOP and kicked his ass out of office with a $12K fine, then knocked the sitting governor out of the GOP primary.
Like I said, roughly as unqualified. Compared to McCain or Biden neither one's done squat. She never went to law school, but then she's only gunning for Veep. How that balances out, I don't know.

What does extensive experience with constitutional law have to do with leading this country?
Well, if your current president understood constitutional law I guarantee you he'd be leading your country in a different direction...

You're comparing an active senator of Illinois and saying it's equivalent to being the mayor of a 5,000-person town in Butt****, Alaska? Really?
Which one of these jobs is going to be closer to the role of the VP? Nevermind, it's clear you've no idea either.

Yes, which is why she got elected. From what I have read and heard from a friend of mine in Alaska, the Republican GOP is the most corrupt organization imaginable. All of the candidates were long-time GOP loyalists at a time when the scandals and press of the corruption was reaching new heights. In comes this completely green, attractive woman completely disconnected from the corruption people are sick of, and she basically gets elected by default.
I'm not sure if you're aware of Alaska's situation (which would be amusing, seeing as you're an American), but they get a lot of money from energy resources in addition to federal funding other states are not privy to. I've never been governor of Alaska, but I'd ask you to enumerate just what she did in her massive two years in office not related to "Republican corruption" that made her eminently qualified to be the VP? If you can't answer that, then maybe you shouldn't be using that position as a reason she should be VP.

He was clearly comparing state senator with mayor and U.S. senator with governor, not U.S. senator with mayor. I don't see any reason to think think that being a state-level senator involves more executive skills than being a mayor, or even Butt****'s mayor, but you obviously know more about both jobs than I do.
Not to suggest that any of those four positions is significantly closer to VP than dog-catcher is anyway, though. A trained monkey could be VP looking at the minimal governing duties sitting VP's actually have. Do you even know what they are? Hint: there's only one, and it's only happened 242 times in the last 219 years.

Not only that, but she's just a puppet for the oil companies there.

I don't think that's true, but the biggest issue is that VPs sometimes become presidents.
"Sometimes" being the key word, namely 9 out of 43 or 20%. I'd bet the farm on 80% odds any day of the week. Even if you adjust another 10% for McCain's age (notwithstanding his otherwise stellar medical records), 70%'s still looking pretty sweet.
So we're talking about someone with an 8 on the inexperienced-o-meter with a ~30% chance of eventually being President after 1-3 years of tutelage as VP, as opposed to someone with a 6 on the inexperienced-o-meter with a 100% chance of being President after 0 days of tutelage. I'd say the scales don't tip in either party's favor.

Those stats are very misleading. McCain's already had cancer 4 times and is what, 72? This isn't your usual 50 year old president.

So if you elected VPs like her 10 times, the odds are greatest that 3 of those times the VP would become president. I haven't studied statistics for awhile, but I think that's right.
Still see no problem with her as a VP?

Sure, I just don't see how having someone slightly less inexperienced as a guaranteed P is any less risky than a possible P. Unless you think that judgment trumps experience, in which case all this *****ing is the height of hypocrisy.
