To be fair most people both liberal and conservative are conformists. The differences I would argue lie in the source of their conformity.
I hypothesize that conservatieves conform mostly to their parents or at least the local priests opion while liberals on the other hand conform to the liberal media & intelligentsia.

To get this thread back on topic, maybe we should reserve further judgment on Palin until we've heard her speak on national issues? I think that's what I'm going to do. Her bio in today's WaPo gave the impression of a cute, perky pit bull. No telling whether she's a good person for the job at this point, but she seems roughly as unqualified as Obama and at least as forceful in personality.
