So wait, Obama's campaign manager is running for president now?

The candidate, to use W's words, is the final "decider," who also picks their managers.

Unless you think that any single executive in any large enterprise doesn't have managers under them actually keeping tabs of all the details......

The President's job, like a Presidential candidate's job, is largely to delegate responsibilities to smart, competent people (yes, like David Plouffe).

So Bush is a great executive, because he picked a great campaign manager in 2000?

Sorry, a campaign is nothing like the presidency, or a governorship, or frankly even a mayor of a small town. It's a great accomplishment, I'm sure, but it's just not comparable. Public policy decisions are vastly different from the business-like decisions of running a campaign, and vastly more difficult and complex. Running a government bureaucracy is also quite a different thing than managing a few thousand volunteers and paid staffers and running media campaigns.

Bush ran against Al Bore and John Killme. Come on.

Bush inherited an organization. It should be noted that his father was a pretty good manager.

                Hmmmm....interesting pick.

Not so sure I like it, but I will have to mull this one over.

It does add some interesting dynamics to the campaigns though...

... because? A lot of the political pundits out there think this was a clever pick (bringing in the religious right, yet affirming his ethics position and making his strength - energy and military - even stronger).

So I guess you would disgaree with any claims by businesspeople that their executive experience makes them elligible to run something like a large City or a whole State?

A few thousand? Do you really think those are the kinds of numbers involved here?

I'd say that it is inferior to actual public policy experience, yes. "eligible" is not the same as "highly qualified", however.

You might forget that I grew up in New Mexico during the Gary Johnson years... I know exactly how unprepared a businessman can be for governing.

The business that he ran (incredibly successfully) was related to public policy, and there is that whole legislative experience shtick (which I'm pretty sure counts as public policy experience)...
