    Interesting pick.

How will those pictures of the team look though, of a young Palin next to McCain?

To answer your question, though, Palin has only 2 years of public service on the state or national level to her credit (her 2 years as Alaska governor - everything else before that is local level). Obama's on his 12th year of state or national public service (eight years in the Illinois state house, four in the U.S. Senate).
Governor has always trumped Senator. She also was a mayor for six years before that, which trumps state house in my book, and was in unelected State government positions in between (as ethics board).

Either way, she's also not running for President... so there's certainly a lower 'experience' requirement. I think, however, that her gubernatorial experience is a big plus to the McCain campaign (isn't this the first time since at least 1960 that someone who wasn't either a governor or former VP was running... and even then, Nixon was a former VP, so it goes further back than that.)

And what's more, can we have Michael Palin for Secretary of Silly Walks?

The debates will suck. It should be Obama vs. Palin and Biden vs. McCain, but it will be the opposite

Though of a pretty insignificant city (~7500 people).

                  Bonus points for Palin :
The volatile issue of teaching creation science in public schools popped up in the Alaska governor's race this week when Republican Sarah Palin said she thinks creationism should be taught alongside evolution in the state's public classrooms. Palin was answering a question from the moderator near the conclusion of Wednesday night's televised debate on KAKM Channel 7 when she said, "Teach both. You know, don't be afraid of information.

Mayor of 7000 people is more than Obama, McCain, or Biden can claim, as far as I know (which isn't far mind you).

I think the campaign is a pretty decent display of Obama's executive experience. Built a 1/3 billion dollar organization from scratch to defeat the biggest name and strongest force in the Democratic Party. Not too shabby, IMO.

How about being the head of a half-billion dollar campaign? Isn't that "executive experience?"

Besides, obviously Republican primary voters didn;t give a **** about "executive experience" given they rejected the couple of governors and mayors who initially ran against McCain.

Palin seems to be a way for McCain to appeal to the christian conservatives while projecting the image of change and trying to pick up stray feminist support, though I doubt Palin would appeal to many self-described feminists.
