    The last time I tried voting for a republican to ballance congress and the president, Bush came into power (I really thought that the democrats had a good chance to sweep that election).

    I am not doing that again. Republicans make bad presidents based on the last 28 (or more?) years of experience. I especially don't like the current crop of republicans. Mayb I could vote for one again if another idealogical generation started getting elected.

          You sure do like repeating the right's Messiah smear. Obama has never made such a claim while the right is basically inventing this junk to try to dent his popularity. Nice to see you believe McCain's attack ads though.

            Those are some nice claims but how exactly does he propose to end ear marks?
            And of course, earmarks are a pittance (~$50 billion) as far as the federal budget is concerned. And much of the earmarked funding goes to politically untouchable projects like aid to Israel.

              Did you see the clips from his Euro tour. I think he did promise world peace. Lord knows he was acting like he was the president already.

                  I think the more significant fact was that the leaders of Europe, right and left, government and opposition, were treating him like he was President already. Dunno how that's supposed to reflect favorably on your boy, though...

                    I think that will hurt him in the long run. It will build on that inevitable claim which will fuel the arrogence thing. I think a lot of people won't respond to that well and the change in the polls is reflecting that.

                      I suppose you could try to sell the idea that Obama's arrogant and presumptuous and generally naughty because our allies think that he's going to win and have endorsed his agenda, but you can't honestly take that seriously...

                          Actually, no. There was a huge deal in Germany where Obama originally wanted to speak in front of Brandenburg Gate like Kennedy and Reagan did but the German government said no because they thought that place should be reserved for visiting heads of state and not candidates.

                            The inevitable and arrogant thing is already getting a lot of press. So, "yes" I think there are those that are going to sell it. and yes, I think there are people that are going to buy it. I perosnally think it's silly but what I think is unimportant. I'm here to discuss how a sure thing could be blown. And In my opinion, if the dems can't close it this term with every advantage in the world, they're going to be percieved as the biggest losers ever.

                                Let's face it the stupid "arrogant" claim is also standard smear they recycle over and over and apply to all democrats. Remember when they claimed John Kerry was arrogant because he ordered a phily cheese steak with swiss cheese instead of that nasty cheese wiz sprayed on top?

                                Every election it's the same old smears. The democrat is "far left" no matter how to the right he is, the democrat is "arrogant" no matter if it is true or not, and the democrat is "elitist" even when he went to night school and the Republican married into hundreds of millions of dollars. You have to be a slow learner not to have picked up on this stuff. People really should be looking at policies instead of these lame untrue personal attacks.
