The wider speech was everyone wants to change the world but they're waiting for someone else to do it. Then he says we're the people we've been waiting for and we have to go out and do things if we want them to happen.

In all honesty, I figured I wouldn't be voting REPUG this time around, but was pleasantly suprised that McCain was selected. I liked and agree alot with the OLD McCain and I'm hoping that if he wins he'll be more like that. Yes Candidates have to compromise when running and say a lot of weird stuff to satisfy people. Obama's slide to the center is a perfect example. But when it's all said and done, If Obama is elected, I figure he'll slide left. If McCain wins, he'll slide back a little left also. If that's the case, I prefer where McCain will end up.
My whole problem with the Republicans is the treatment of candidates at the DOJ, the stacking of the courts with RW ideologues, as well as the restructuring of the House after Newt and Delay were in charge- never mind Gitmo and the war. I want the republican party to disintegrate completely, get rid of the neocons and Xian nutters and 4th branch Limbaughs, Hannitys, etc., and have the moderates rebuild it. I also think we're at the point where a massive retooling of our energy sources is necessary and I don't see McCain or anyone w/o a lot of charisma, self-confidence, and the backing of both houses able to pull that off.
Not that think the dems will do that either, but I think they will trip, stumble, and allow themselves to be dragged in that direction.I'm consitently stupid- Japher

Is there anyone on the democrats side that, if they were running against McCain, you would've voted for?
Hillary .
Well, at least I would. Don't know about Rah.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

No Hillary was not an option for me.
There would have been no rational reason. She just creeps me out. Yeah, silly, but At least I can recognize it was silly. And to be honest, I didn't really like anybody on the dem side this time around but the focus was really on hillary and obama.
If it had been anybody but McCain, I wouldn't be voting REPUG this time. They all seemed way to far out there. I would have had a tough decision. Probably would have ended up with the local kid for lack of interest. (Obama)
The last two elections were selecting between the lesser of two evils to me. At least this year, I don't see it that way. Neither candidate is evil in my opinion. Refreshing. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Well at least Obama isn't the anti-christ in your opinion, so I won't refer to you as a 'nutter' anymore*.

If he wasn't so far out left, I'd probably be voting for him. But I have to give him props for his campaign so far. He's leveraging his fantastic charisma to the hilt.
But I do think that people that are buying into that part of it are slightly delusional. He's a policitian from Chicago, by definition, not a saint.
Kind of hard for the old fogey to keep up with that. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Then again, we don't know if Theben is voting Democrat or SPUSA.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

But it's awfully amusing that McCain, of all people, is denigrating another candidate as "the One" and a "celebrity." He just might be the Daily Show's most frequent guest. He hosted SNL twice. He made a number of cameos in tv and movies. I mean, he has his own made-for-tv movie...
Hell, McCain's marketing "honor" itself. And I don't blame him for that; that's the smartest way to sell his status quo policies. But pretending that this is a one way street is pretty ridiculous here..."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before. He is full of murderous resentment of people who are ignorant without having come by their ignorance the hard way. "

Correct, I have never granted McCain magical status for any of his accomplishements either. The Honor thing is a good campaign tool. I'll admit I have respect for him because of some of those things, but I'm not going to grant him saint status over it.
I do think the star thing (while being used by both) more favores Obama because he's just better at it. He's a good looking young man with a vision.
Compare that to an old man that constantly looks constipated. (probably because he is)

Which disasterous policies?
I benefited from some of them.
Why do you think it's going to be a continuation?
My decision there is that I think Obama is going to outspend him by a ton. And all that talk of pay as you go will fall to the wayside. Especially with a democratic controlled congress. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I like and will vote for Obama. I do not trust this new McCain to go back to being the old McCain. The new McCain is Bush 3 and we know that won't work. Obama is the only other realistic choice.
We need less overall government that is also less socially intrusive. Neither major candidate stands for any part of the previous sentence. I'm drawn toward Barr more and more. Viva the Libertarians! No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai
