Exactly, the people who say things like this have clearly made up their minds already:

These kind of people obviously don't base their opinions on the issues or facts in the campaign. It's sad.

Rah, these e-mails and similar rumor mongering are a serious business and many of them are actually put out by the other campaign. Remember how John McCain's campaign got killed in 2000 when Rove started a whisper campaign that McCain had a secret half black baby? They even showed a picture of McCain with his adopted daughter (who was originally from India but was adopted right after birth). The point is lots of people believed this obvious lie; it's stupid to think an Indian person is half black but Americans aren't exactly the smartest or most worldly people out there.

Also don't forget the lies spread by the "Swiftboat Veterans for Truth" started out as one of these e-mail campaigns which later became a TV ad. They were complete lies but once again Americans fell for it. Campaigns love these chain e-mail whisper campaigns because they're cheap, they can tell outrageous lies about the other guy, it's hard to trace them back to the original campaign person who wrote it, and best of all large numbers of people actually believe this crap.

You can say I have no sense of humor but that's two campaigns I've listed which got torpedo by lies in chain e-mails. It's a deliberate strategy of misinformation and lies and tons of people are stupid enough to take it at face value.

Ironnically, McCain's campaign manager is a Rove disciple.

No wonder the campaign now consists of whispered lies, personal attacks and obscene distortions.

The Straight-Talk Express has detoured down the low road filled with mud and muck.

I liked McCain in 2000 and was really disappointed when he dropped out. But this MCain is an entirely different person.

It's odd how McCain is supporting so many of Bush's policies while his own party is moving against them and losing members because of them. I think a lot of his supporters don't seem to understand what they are getting with McCain.

As for your use of "The One", uh...since when was it a bad thing for a person running for president to, you know, think they should be able to run the free world? Do we want a president who says "you know, someone else could do a better job..."

The pejorative use of "The One" doesn't mock that a person thinks he could do the best job. It mocks a perceived Messiah complex (Obama's comment that he never has any doubts about his foreign policy proposals reinforces that idea and sounds very Bush like).

The problem with Bush's foreign policy statement was that it was quite obviously disasterous. So for him to say that he has no doubts just showed him as out of touch. In Obama's case, it shows confidence. Unless of course, it too falls flat and he still stands behind it. McCain is just as confident in his foeign policy, yet isn't mocked by it. The "Messiah complex" was completely manufactued by the right to try to undermine Obama's popularity. It was used against Bill Clinton as well.

Not sure about just foreign policy, but if you read "Faith of my Fathers" or "Worth Fighting For", you'll realize McCain is very self-critical and doesn't shy away from his doubts about himself.

"We are the ones we've been waiting for" is pretty silly as candidate statements go.

Not at all. He's letting the electorate know he's going to put them to work after the election. He is proposing so many spin offs of the Peace Corp it's staggering.

And he wants ideas from other persons. He's not going to rule by Presidential Fiat like Bush did. E.g. Obama doesn't want to do offshore drilling; other people do; Obama is willing to compromise. Pres. Bush can't even spell "compromise."

This isn't coming out in his campaign though. He telling all these certainties of his grand success as President. Just look at his messiac 2013 speech. Some of the statements he makes border on delusion. He's literal spoken of pulling money out of thin air to fix the economy.
