It pisses me off when the London tube drivers do this, for exactly the same reasons outlined. So I am reluctantly forced to support Asher's position.

      Unions.

It is just absurd allowing the right to strike for this union when the legislature immediately turns around and orders them back anyway. The end result is binding arbitration anyway. I wish we could skip the charade in the future but that would require the mayor of TO to ask the province the designate the jobs essential. As mayor Miller is so left wing he is brain damaged that is not likely going to happen. Instead he will ask for back to work legislation. It is insane.

Why do you hate civil unions, Asher?

Bath, Maine is still running. And the current Souther shipyards have always been there. Military shipyards have disappeared from the West far more than the North.

This is not a gay navy thread. See to it that you keep it that way.

Ben, this is pathetic. I'm not going to argue with someone who considers bus driving a "skilled" job. A person with such low standards certainly doesn't meet my standards to have a real discussion with.

They are not new hull builders though and just maintenence repair guys, right?

Half of the LCSs will be in Wisconson, depending on how the hull competition goes.

Civilian shipbuilding is for all intents and purposes non existant in the US, thanks in large part to Unions. And not just the ship yard worker unions either. The steel worker unions stabbed did their fair share of damage.

                          Take that Asher

Nah, NASSCO builds the Lewis and Clark dry cargo vessels.

If it wasn't why would the government demand certain standards that have to be met in order to do the job.

I think it takes skill, certainly way more then most university degrees honestly.
