Initially I thought that issues of racism were mostly being finished in society. That the last remaining groups were those who were old or poor. I thought this in college. I thought the main considerations were one of the rich controlling and subjugating the poor.

When I moved to the DC area of MD, and then to Newport News, I found out differently. I found that those who should have been on top, the 30 and 40 yearolds, had been subjugated due to race. That while economics might still be the largest factor, that those who weren't old or poor still acted under the constraints of their racism.

Maybe in another 40 years things will be different.

i think its probably more naivete than ignorance on my part to expect that people can rise above their personal history, but frame it as you wish.

I know a lot of asians who are very racist towards black people.

And to be honest, many black people are racist towards other black people. Telling them they won't ammount to anything, that they are thugs, profiling them, etc.

The problems run deep.

No, it's ignorance. You seem to be under the delusion that its simply history and bad feelings holding people back.

Generally it takes several generations for immigrant communities to raise themselves out of the ghettos and reach full inclusion in American society. Black people have only been free of de jure discrimination for two generations, and de facto discrimination and the demise of the industrial heartland have continued to deny opportunity to a very large segment of the Black community. Black people, having been here since the settling of the continent, had a right to expect not gradual restitution and inclusion in America, but immediate inclusion. This society owed Black people educations and jobs, and provided neither. Almost from the moment affirmative action was created to help people overcome historical racism, people like you fought it tooth and nail, gutting it of any real ability to do anything.

When Black people do succeed, they are met with hostility and ignorance. The joke is so oft repeated no it isn't really humorous anymore, but DWB is still all too frequent an experience for Black people, being pulled over for Driving While Black. Black people are still regularly followed in stores, the investigations into the current sub-prime crisis has uncovered that Black people were disproportionately sold sub-prime loans, even when they qualified for prime loans (I saw a number of 73%, compared to 17% of white mortgage applicants). Now they are being told that they are racist and the first serious Black candidate is under attack because white people won't even allow Black people the right to be angry about how they are treated.

You completely miss the point. The systems white people own and created affect and control everything on the planet. Japan isn't an independent imperialism, but subordinated and dependent upon American and European systems of control and dominance. That goes doubly for China.

I don't disagree with you about the cause of modern imperialism, but it is imperialism by white people. The fact that most whites no longer think of others as innately inferior doesn't mean we don't exist in a global system of white supremacy. The ethanol boom here in America means more Africans and South Asians are going to starve to death. You cannot go anywhere on Earth where white people don't have a great amount of influence, even if unintended and indirect.

If my feelings are hurt by racist black people, then wouldn't that indicate that I have some sympathy for their (overall) plight, as a self-perceived victim of racism?

Depends on your definition of racist. If you mean that they hate others based on race, certainly. But that's really just prejudice.

Racism is a system of domination and subordination based upon oppression of another group by race, and Black leaders, let alone Black people, do not oppress any other group. They lack the capacity to do so, except in places like Zimbabwe. Even then, Zimbabwe pays a heavy price for oppressing whites.

No, it's a statement of fact. An ad hominen argument is saying, "you're an ignorant person, therefore your argument is invalid." I have provided a set of facts which render your "theory" invalid and show that you are ignorant.
