Privateer II -- which was ashame, because Privateer (or Wing Commander fame) was one of the best games ever.

But in Privateer II, in the early game, your space ship has puny weapons which are incapible of doing any damage to attacking pirates. Plus, you can't space-jump until all nearby enemies are destroyed. Each enemy has their own taunt, which they repeat over, and over, and over, and over.

As a practical matter, the game last until you attacked by the first pirate you run across. It doesn't help to do a cheat by setting your ship to "Indestructable" because that only means the attack (and taunting) by the pirate will last forever.

Moo and Moo2 were 2 of my favorite games ever. They were easy to learn, fast paced and had good feedback on how you were doing, and what techs were good. You'd research a new weapon, but it on a ship and see in combat how much more damage it was doing. You'd research a new production tech, build it and see that your production improved.

Moo3, from what I remember, had such a bad interface that none of that feedback was readily available. Ship combat was mostly automated I couldn't even tell what weapon was firing, much less if it was doing any damage. Colony management screens were incomprehensible, the galaxy map was jumbled and confused. All diplomacy and reference to other races were based off the leader name and not the empire, so I couldn't remember the difference between Quafreth and Knargolf (made up example, I think the real leader names were randomly generated), but I would have known the difference between the Klackons and Sillicoids.

I don't remember much more than that!

Yes. But let's just hope they don't leave it unfinished like C3C.

For those that truely think Civ III was the 'worst game you ever bought', you live a blessed gamer life.

While I am sure it was not what alot of you expected, it has to be FAR from being the worst you have ever bought.

For me, it was Tropico (but thankfully it was cheap).

Well CIV certainly restored my faith in Firaxis .

But I made the BetterAI mod, with no expectations of employment. I just did it for fun and to give something to the community .

Hmm, that sounds cheesy, but it's actually true.

Yes, and Vanilla/Warlords with your BetterAI the best part of a year ago was better than where we are now.

Not really. Vanilla/Warlords are in exactly the same place as they were. You're just inspired by seeing things being improved.

Tropico could have been a lot better, but I still enjoyed it.

I agree the potential is greater than ever before. But it means jack **** if BtS is left unfinished.

Either MOO3 or HOMM4. Probably MOO3 b/c HOMM4 was actually playable but the AI was such a pushover it got boring quickly.

I found Civ3 pretty cool, though it was repetitive in that you always went down the same way on the building economy / expansion spiral.

I liked it a lot too. I still play the Mucho Macho version from time to time.

Tropico II -- the pirate game -- is wretched. I started reading the directions only to learn that the pirates will only walk on paths. What kind of fraidy-cat pirates are deterred by "Keep off the Grass" signs?!

I checked my game collection yesterday and found another great one:

                              SimIsle.

This is the most WTF?!? game, I have ever bought.

                                Destiny is probably the worst.

A4 networks (a sequel to A-Train) also wasn't too good.

Premier Manager 3 wasn't bad, but I never managed to figure out the tactics (which happens to be a crucial aspect of the game).

This Means War! (an RTS by Microprose) was mildly enjoyable in the few moments I played it, but not something I should have paid money for.

Also let myself be ripped off by a Civ2 scenarios&maps pack by Actura Software (which probably was sold without authors' permission). I didn't know about the Civilization community on the internet back then.
