  • No it almost certainly takes way less energy. Still that isn't the horrible horrible can of worms that was inadvertantly opened. The best way to deal with it will be to show that the ship is wrecked and can't be rebuilt.

    • Watched the latest episode yesterday. After the huge WOW episode last week, this one was kind of meh. We followed many different characters, but nothing really happened. Baltar and his gang was in focus, but nothing really came from that. The Cylons had their issues, but that also was kind of like "eh, yeah. what was that good for"? Several times during the episode, I though that now something was happening. And then: Nothing.

      • I don't think they adequately explained why Galen would want to leave humanity behind. One would assume he'd vote to stay.

Also after going through a personality transformation when she first was reborn, Ellen was back to her petty, jealous ways in this episode. I accepted the initial change, but the change back was kind of bothersome.

Baltar's little speech to Adama was dumb as well. He warned that there would be a revolution over the integration of Cylons. Uhh, didn't that just happen like 3 episodes ago? Why would Adama care now when he didn't give a **** earlier? And if "the people" are upset over Cylons now, why didn't they play a more active role in the Gaeta/Zareck coup?

Finally, I was never totally sold on Tigh's love story with Caprica 6. Didn't it start with him raping her in prison? How did such a thing blossom to 'love'?

Yeah, but if you think about it, it fits. It shows how human the cylons really are. Ultimately they will share the same doom as the humans.

Because the rebels in the earlier episode were insubordinate to him, d**n it!
And if "the people" are upset over Cylons now, why didn't they play a more active role in the Gaeta/Zareck coup?
Because Baltar is using this to regain control over his group. That was the whole thing with the giving of food to the needy. He saw that he was losing control over his group so he shifted the focus of the group to an issue that he could dominate. The Ares gang trashed his ploy, so he needs to overcome their challenge or he'll lose control again.

'Cause she's a really, really, reallly good lay?
Didn't he rape her because she represented his own cylon nature, which he hated and denies initially. He's gradually accepted reality and her. Also she made him a Daddy.

One's the military and the other are civilians. There is quite a different "feel" with regard to skinjobs and Centurions. Skinjobs seem human and Hell, the XO is one. Centurions are another thing altogether.

I think they are trying to set that up.

I don't think Baltar's change of heart was all a power ploy. Remember his conversation with head-Six, where he says how good it really made him feel to give that food

Knowing she's a Cylon, her searching for booze reminded me a bit too much of bender from Futurama...

Are you getting roped into his delusion? That's not good, not good at all. It's just his delusion talking. A moment before it was very obvious how dismayed he was about Paula's new found strength and independence. What he says to head-Six is mere rationalization. Paula told him about how successful they were at obtaining food, he looked at the refugees and he instantly saw an issue with which he could deflate her.

                  • But regarding Baltar, one big question still remains: How did he survive the nuclear blast that we saw obliterating his apartment in the first episode? I fail to see how hiding in the lap of Caprica Six could rescue him from that... And he was all unscratched when he entered the ship on the grass pastures a few days later...

                    • Cylons are made of lead (but nobody noticed), ergo he was protected. It's no less silly than Indiana Jones...

                        • I'm pretty sure he was just far enough away from the blast, and her body shielded him from the broken glass etc.

I think the series has been inconsistent with it actually. At some points they say the two are identical, then others they show super-human strength for the Cylons. Then you had scenes early on where the Cylons would glow red (like during sex, etc). Also, since the Cylons are able to be programmed and controlled from afar (like Boomer was) and upload their consciousness into resurrection ships then there must be some distinctly non-human hardware up there.

I think Baltar is a very conflicted individual in that he has a sphere of self-interest and a sphere of wanting to do good. The writer of the episode in the Chicago Tribune interview when asked if it was because he really wanted to do good or rather to wrest power from Paula said that Baltar probably doesn't even know it himself.

And he seems to be fairly frank with head Six... or at least she's frank with him and points out when he's doing things for self-advancement. Not here though.

You didn't listen closely. They said the journey took thousands of years, because they didn't have FTL. Due to relativity, they only experienced it as months. The disaster on Earth happened 2,000 years ago. They showed up in Colonial space 40 years ago, ergo, the journey did not take months.
