  • Yep, the series has to end with the Galactica getting destroyed (or crash landing on a new planet) on the final episode.

      Good theory.

I'd like to add that last night was the very first time I've ever watched an episode on TV instead of online.

      • This is BSG. The series doesn't "have" to end anyway.

And yes, they were cracks in the hull... the ship was due to be a museum piece in the miniseries after all.

        • And has been beaten pretty badly. It was all but destroyed during the evacuation of New Caprica, only to be saved by Pegasus. Of course, atmospheric entry didn't help... That was one of the greatest scenes in any scifi....

I've allways wanted to play "Russ Meyer's Civilization"

          • While Gaeta has acted like a little ***** through most of the series, he did know when the gig was up and decided not to destroy lives needlessly after he knew it was over.

I will take this opportunity to congratulate Richard Hatch on a job well done. Wouldn't mind seeing him more in other roles

            • A little *****? I always liked Gaeta. He was one of the more consistently honorable folks on the show imho.

He just always seemed to be a whiner to me, especially after New Caprica.

Then again, I didn't like Lee Adama when he went through his whiner stage either.

                • It's Gaeta's fault that New Caprica happened at all.

                  • By uncovering a rigged election? Seems kinda harsh to blame the whole experience on that when Roslin was trying to steal an election, no?

                          • I liked Gaeta, and the quality of BSG shows here - I just couldn't help but feel some sympathy towards him in the last episode. And the episode really showed the difference between Gaeta and a cold-blooded killer (Zarek). Gaeta is a guy who really tries do to what he thinks is best. He truly believed that Baltar would save humanity by settling on New Caprica, then he did his best to help the resistance. Speaking of which, after the exodus Gaeta was the outcast and Starbuck goaded him... two weeks ago we saw the exact opposite. Finally, to Gaeta's credit, he tried to minimize violence during the coup, although that failed miserably.

Well, now we know why John's not a happy camper.

Did Kara cut the story short?

Ellen was quite significant - imagine that.

                              • Since the show has aired in the East Coast, I'm putting spoilers (West coasters should know better right now).

                                Awesome, fraking awesome.

We get A LOT of the back story. The 13th tribe forgot how to resurrect after leaning to procreate, but had to re-learn because they knew of the impending catastrophe (their Cylon's rebelled?). They didn't have jump capability, so they reached the other 12 colonies while they were in the middle of a war, with the Final/First 5 stopped by offering the secrets of skinjobbin'.

They made the other 8, the first of the 8, John Cavil killed them, wiped their memories and made them live like humans so when they came back they realized that love **** was crap and would join him in his petty humanist desire for vengeance.

So the F5's creation turns on them. Sounds familiar.

And it nips the Kara is a Cylon thing. It seems the 13th one was killed by Cain... er, John Cavil, back before he wiped the F5's memories and sent them with the humans

                                Very cool episode!
