Plano's decent, my folks almost moved there when I was younger. When I lived in TX (late 90s, early 00s) I think they had a "Junior High" (9th/10th grades) and a "Senior High" (11th/12th grades) because they had so many thousands of kids with limited school district resources. I don't know how things are right now, but it was a nice enough place back then.Originally posted by padillah

Trust me, the Dallas school district is rubbish, by any standard. Try for one of the suburbs. Plano's nice, University Park is nice, Richardson is nice, Coppell is tolerable, Dallas itself is not.The Apolytoner formerly known as Alexander01

Marcus High in Lewisville is not a very good school, IMHO. I think neighboring Lewisville High might be a little better. My folks were going to build their dream home in Highland Village (an offshoot of Lewisville) but didn't because Marcus was so bad.
They went to Highland Park instead, living in a veritable shack surrounded by mansions just to have decent schools.The Apolytoner formerly known as Alexander01

Well, I graduated from Highland Park, and I would agree that there were plenty of snobby, self-centered, prejudiced people there. I certainly could have done without a few of my neighbors -- obnoxious, egotistical brats. Also, I think I got a better education there than I would have had I gone to Marcus or Coppell HS (I was at the latter for a time). In some educational respects, HPHS was more difficult than college. It certainly prepared me to face the real world. The university experience was neither a challenge nor a surprise afterwards.
