Sorry, I wasn't aware a wiki entry was required. I knew there was web stuff available since I had seen it before. The linked reference is a very good source. A quick skim revealed several ways out of Roy Hill obscurity to more mainstream artists.

Rules ammended to better reflect the PURPOSE of the rules - now what is required is either a Wikipedia entry, or an equivalent, informative, easily found article on the web on the artist/band, other than the official site of the band/artist, or site maintained by the band artist (for example, myspace).

So the challenge is on:

To find the link between

Roy Hill

and

The Sex Pistols.

Just wanted to make sure nobody else had posted while I got the pics.

Hope that's right, I'm not sure about the Chuck Berry connection but that's simliar to the Prince connection in the example.

Jawbreaker and Johnny Cash are the two bands I'd like to see linked.

You beat me to it - up to you to chose the artists/bands for the next round.

Just for the sake of interest, here's the path I found:

1. Roy Hill worked with former Anthony Philips on some songs, including "Tears ON The Ballroom Floor" (no video)

2. Anthony Philips was one of the founding members band Genesis, playing alongside Peter Gabriel

3. Peter Gabriel covered Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles (no video)

4. The Beatless song "Help!" was covered by Bananarama:

and finally....

5. Bananarama also covered "No Feelings", a Sex Pistols original. (unofficial video using the song, embedding disabled, so have to make do with a link):

With collaberations and covers you should be able to find a link between any 2 bands.

Mike Patton formerly of Faith No More would be an easy one. He's done so many collaberations with so many bands.

Now listening to videos. This could take a while. I love some of these songs. actually I have never seen the videos. I never cared for videos. In fact, I'm not watching them now. I'm typing while listening to them.

Thus far links like the one from 2 to 3 there have been allowed... I suspect not allowing them would make the task significantly more difficult, and might drive away participants.

Initially I got an 8-step link between AC and PJ Harvey that didn't involve Tori Amos at all, and was strugging with getting it down to only 6; but then I remembered the unlikely covers Amos has done, and the Slayer-Amos link just popped into my mind. I researched that, and voila, the 6 steps were enough.

It was quite surpricing that it was more difficult to find the link between Slayer and Pantera than Slayer and Tori Amos.
