Wiglaf, you're absolutely wrong about where rapes occur. Many if not the majority happen in the suburbs. It's a matter of what *kind* of rape you're talking about - and even 'stranger' rape (grabbed into a back alley type) happen in suburbs sometimes, often girls are less 'careful' in the suburbs and so a rapist can be more successful there.

However, the far majority of rapes are "acquaintance" rapes - ie, a boyfriend, a cousin, a uncle, etcetera. Those happen as often or more in the suburbs...

That said, she might well be unbalanced - but you will just need to find that out. Many (most) women who are raped haodle it fine, some of course don't ... but if you don't know her well enough to know whether she is stable or not, you don't know her well enough to make the 'date further?' decision as it stands.

The only question I'd ask is, why did she tell you? If it came up in conversation naturally, then I'd not worry about it at all. If she said it to MAKE conversation, I'd wonder a bit... anyone who can say "Hi, how are you? Yeah ... Oh, by the way, I was raped!" is probably a bit odd in the head one way or the other
