Oh, bury me not, at Wounded Knee. Where the coyotes howl and the wind blows free. In a narrow grave just six by three;
Time out. I don't think this is right.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Then they turn around and pitch a hissy fit over another flag, saying a person has no right.
You looney! No one is saying they have no right. They are saying that its disgusting, but doesn't mean it should be banned... kind of the same as the flag burning debate.
Just because you want to ban things you don't like doesn't mean everyone does .“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I'm not going to argue on this. Actual root cause of the thread is a bias born of ignorance against the South, working in tandem with a "Look at me" attitude.
If you don't want to agree, that's fine as frog hair.
Hell, I don't even like watching Nascar. What's that pretty boy Jeff's name? Gordon. That sorry ass.
Now, King Richard Petty, I might watch him for a couple of laps. Uh oh. I bet I violated another Northern rule, huh? Calling him King is probably against some law the Fed's made up.

And i will say this in most reenactments of the civil war che you see todays confederate flag on the battlefields. If they go so far to get the uniforms and weapons right why would the include a flag u say wasnt flown?
The confederate flag is a flag it means nothing to a lot of people. To me it means to rebel against something you dont agree with and i assoiciate it with the civil war as a way of telling who was who on the battlefield(i dont care if it was a small picture sewn to a purple sheet if thats all they had at the time to sew it to), to some others its just pretty, and to you its racist! Can u disagree that one is entitled to form their own opinions of something you see as different? When you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is.

If it's the KKK's cross, damn straight. It's a Klan symbol. White cross for the purity of our race and the drop of blood from Jesus.
Why is the same cross offensive when used by the KKK and inoffensive when used by the west coast choppers.Scouse Git (2) La Fayette Adam Smith Solomwi and Loinburger will not be forgotten.

Something about flags. I asked this before, and someone besides dumb**** will have to answer since I finally have on Ignore, people that think the right to burn the American flag is a right under the freedom of speech articles. Then they turn around and pitch a hissy fit over another flag, saying a person has no right.
What gives the flag burner such special rights over any other? Keeping in mind I neither burn the American flag, nor fly this particular flag.
Seems a little hypocritical at best.
I believe people have the right to burn the American flag but I find it repugnant. I believe people have the right to fly the Confederate flag, the symbol of white supremacy, but I also find that repugnant.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Or do i have the right to reserve my views of you as an indvidual that has geman heritage?
To automatically insinuate guilt on a whole ethnic group for past war crimes committed by a significant number (not all) of the same ethnic members is prejudice against that ethnic group.
I'm not prejudiced against white Southerners, since I do not make any unfair claim that all white Southerners are racist. JUST LIKE I WOULD NOT ACCUSE YOU OF BEING PREJUDICED AGAINST ALL GERMANS BY AUTOMATICALLY CONNECTING THE HOLOCAUST AND ANTI-SEMITISM WITH THE SWATISKA. Forgive me though, if, as an aspiring professional historian, I cannot accept popular culture phenomena such as the "Lost Cause" as fact, which runs contradictory to the consensus among professional historians, both, North and South.
The few interactions with white Southerners that I have had who have traveled or moved up to my general area have been smooth. One of them I have worked with as a co-intern while I was still taking classes at Eastern Illinois University; she and I got along fine and dandy. Not to mention that I have this infatuation with a Southerner -- Tim McGraw.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

In wich case then Mr Fun You should aslo inculde the confederate flag in your theories!!! just as you say not all germans are assoicated with predjuice and racisms neither should you say all confederate flags denote racism. They way i see it you cant have one and not the other since they are all signs and symbols. and if one doesnt always indicate what you say then neither does the otherWhen you find yourself arguing with an idiot, you might want to rethink who the idiot really is.

You still don't get it. I still believe that the Confederate flag is a symbol of white supremacy. That does not mean that I believe all white Southerners are white supremacists. It's possible to not be racist, and still use the Confederate flag for display but then one is still being grossly ignorant about the history of the Civil War and the issue of race relations. Either you're racist, or you are unwittingly or willfully ignorant of American history. Sadly, it's still common in our country for Americans to be uncomfortable with honestly looking at our own country's history in regards to the boogey-man of the issue of race.
Either way you look at it, in my opinion, if one insists that he/she is not racist while proudly displaying the Confederate flag, or if he/she displays it because they are unabashedly racist, he/she is being obtuse, and repugnantly insensitive to blacks.
The only exceptions I allow for what I think are appropriate uses of the Confederate flag are museum exhibits that HONESTLY portray the Civil War and the issue of race relations, and in battle reenactments.
Really -- white Southerners ought to find more productive and positive ways to express pride in their state's/region's culture. Such expression would be inclusive of black Southerners and all other groups that reside in the South. Proudly displaying the Confederate flag to express cultural pride certainly does NOT include black Southerners in the picture.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Just stop, Mr. Fun. You aren't using the black and white dichotomy favored by pro-Confederate flag defenders here. After all, to Slow, if you are against the Confederate flag, you must want to ban people from unfurling it.
You are doing that whole 'nuance' thing. That don't play when in the South (Oh, and if humor doesn't play well either... that was a joke!).“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

He was whining about Nascar and the Confederate flag.
See thread title. Am I missing something? No. He whines about the South constanly. All he can do is pimp himself and when that doesn't work talk about a subject he's ill-informed on.
By his own admission he hasn't been to the South. I have no respect for his opinion. He can't tell me how the South thinks or feels, and I can't tell him how a Gay Iowan thinks thinks and feels.
Is that really so difficult to comprehend?Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
