The Confederate Flag and NASCAR

Imnot tryng to beat a dead horse here but i have been reading some things on this issue and i have found this
che it indeed was a battle flag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_States_Army and one other thing i read is that there was a reason why the north states disnt want the south to own slaves. This was because thier(the south) plantations were larger and they couldnt compete with the goods being produced on those farms.
Neither here nor there, i have stated that the flag is deciphered by the person that sees it. Being from texas,I am not consisdered part of ths south we are just texas as is florida. Two states that are southern but not considered part of the south.
Anyway if by association u choose to say the flag is racist, then anyone can look at the normal looking white guy and say that is offensive cause his kind supported racisim and slavery. He is white and white people were involved.

I don't know that I ever see this flag in Texas. Certainly I can't speak for the Deep South.
Texas considers itself separate from all the rest of the states.

I don't care what kind of economic system is used, New England never has and never will be competitive wrt to commercial farming. The rest of the north did just fine, especially since they were growing very different crops than the south did (cotton doesn't grow too well in cold places).

And in any case, you don't need to have ulterior motives to oppose something as evil as slavery.

You are indeed correct.

As a white male, 47, I feel I too often have to "prove" I am not prejudiced and support equality.

I do but do NOT support paying back anyone today for suppossed or even factual wrongs from 200+years ago.

My family lineage is German,Irish and Canadian. I however was born in Portland Maine, so I am a "Yankee by Birth" "Southern by the Grace of God"

It is a shame that we all cant get along but as long as Chips are placed upon the shoulders of men we wont move past.

For the record, I aint never owned slaves, have many close friends who are not white, some of Spanish/Hispanic decent, and some who would be considered "Black" and then I couldn't tell ya what is politically correct anymore, African American to some, Black to others even though most are as much Black as I am White, for I am a more pinkish/flesh tone.

Anyhoo, I can have some fun with my "Own KInd" here, the pride of the Pink/fleshtone race

Oh and to keep on topic of Flags, if this was a Football Game, we would certainly see Flags on the Play

Indeed. Of course, the Confederacy wasn't *actually* founded on the ideology of white supremacy....Its just that whites were the superior race

I don't know much about US southern history, but I must disagree with that statement. Not to Godwin you all, but it's an appropriate comparison in this case: flying a Swastika is not the same as being German.
