I've decided that this isn't about racism, but about identity politics. These days it's nice to have an ethnicity to brandish, if you've got one, and the confederate flag is a way of expressing this for some southerners.

Wales and Scotland have their own football teams. In my view this alone entitles them to have flags on Poly. I recognise that this might not be important to you, but I assure that it it is important.

More seriously, Wales and Scotland are still political entities. Britain is primarily a union of the two countries of England and Scotland, and Scotland has long had its own legal system. More recently Scotland has had its own Parliament, and Wales too now has a National Assembly.

btw - Never believe anyone who says that the English are oppressing the Scots (like Batman did recently, IIRC). Scotland actually holds consitutional superiority over England, and has been very well represented at the highest ministerial levels in Westminster.
