  • Can someone explain to me what the red card was for? It didn't appear to be football related.

    • I doubt anyone can.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

      • I was starting to think penalties had been banned, all the anti-diving momentum sucked away in one foul swoop.

        • Anti-diving momentum? You must've missed the Holland game then!

A perfect pike position with 3 rotations and a half twist 'Alex'. It should score 9.5 out of 10.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

          • My meaning is that refs were ignoring the appeals.

Watching the Tunisia game now. Not much footie, but I love the 'whiffs' of middle eastern atmosphere from the 'bazaar music' emanating from the crowd.

Yeah, good music, dull game so far. Two more goals, please, Tunisia, and some more blasts of that tune .

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

I saw the humour, but I thought you were making a point as well.

                    • Nevermind, I see they did, beating Paraguay 1-0.

I haven't paid attention for a while, so excuse my blatant ignorance, but...

Is Michael Owen now a has-been? I remember him in 1998... he was just electrifying to watch. Man, could he accelerate.

Let me guess: recurring leg injuries = speed gone = stick a fork in him?

He went from coming man to has been in about six months.

He has had quite a few injuries, and though he didn't do too badly at real, imo he's overrated.

So yeah, you've summed pretty well.

                              • Alva's being very harsh, but Owen has been injured all year, and is struggling a bit. He's given a lot more than 6 months good service, and is one of England's top scorers ever, but I doubt we'll ever see the pace he showed in '98 again.
