Although looking at the weight of many polls is interesting, figuring out the voters intent in a last week where the campaign goes wild is like trying to keep track of a particular animal in a pirana fight.

The polls that matter are in 4 days. The Liberals are down, but not out. The Tories could govern, but how effectively without a majority?
...And what will happen to the NDP vote?

Someone wished interesting times on us, and we have them.
That is a curse is it not

    • ****, I didn't know that Harper wanted to remove Alberta's oil revenues in equalization payments calculation.

      • Do you have any (non-crackpot) links back it up, or is this just general paranoia?
I take it I can't cite the tyee...

No, I saw the article in the local paper here which said that the pollster wanted to hold the poll over to get a larger sample.

        • BTW, I read in a column by Michel David (the best political columnist in Quebec IMO), that 12 Bloc MPs voted against gay marriage last time. It is thought some of them could be tempted to switch side if a place in the Cabinet there is.

          • Yesterday the Tories were at 42% to Liberal 26 or 27% on ctv.ca (SC poll, I think).

Today there is no poll posted, but the 'discussion' is of a '5 point gap'.
Funny eh? And folks wonder about a liberal bias.

Same with the Liberals who also voted against the bill. There are a few safe liberal seats like Paul Szabo's that would be interesting to see what happens if the tories fall just short of a majority.

If the Liberals who are social conservative survive, that would be a repudiation of the general consensus that a candidate only does well if he is socially liberal.

                • MPR was talking about the Canadian election this morning. the two guests on the show were talking as if your little scandal was the crime of the century and that Canadians were morons because they won't privatize thier healthcare system (yes, both guests on the show were Americans, so of course they would be pimping privitization).

While I generally a fiscal conservative, I see NO compelling reason to drop our medicare system. If the US model is what privatization means , I will stick with the Canadian way thanks.

It was near the political crime of the 20th century up here.

It isn't. There's a whole, wide, industrialised world out there, and none of it has a system like the US on one extreme or Canada on the other.

But anyways, what you are telling us is that some pollster, somewhere, did a poll, decide the results were unreliable and that the pollster decided to get more data. No exactly a sign of a conspriracy to harm the conservatives.

Yeah, you got to hate the Liberal bias of the Globe and Mail, the National Post, the Sun newspapers, CTV, BCTV, and so on and so on. They're all a bunch gay marrying commies!

The only missing poll on The Strategic Counsel website is December 3. The polls are posted on the website a day after they are given to The Globe and Mail and CTV so that those organizations can publish them in the news first. The same happens for SES/CPAC, Ipsops/CanWest and Ekos/Toronto Star/La Presse
