  • I don't really count all of Div I-A when determining the worth of BCS-conference teams. If you simply make a bowl, you're mediocre in my eyes. 9-10 wins, you're good. Undefeated or one tough loss to a top team and you may be great.

I am a Husker fan, though. We have high standards.

    • Ahhh, so that is the crux of the problem.

When I think of bad teams, I think not only of Washington and Illinois, I think of Middle Tennessee State and Army. And the whole Big East thing throws the relative standing of BCS vs. non-BCS for a loop.

I agree, you only have to be mediocre to squeak into a bowl game; but Nebraska isn't going to squeak in.

Yep, that's how I look at things as well.

They'll have to win every one of their remaining games to reach my 9-win "good" level and I just don't see them doing that. They may be an upper-level mediocre team, but they're still mediocre. IMHO, of course.

At any rate, mediocre is definitely a step up from last year.

          • Tennessee is now down to the 10 of Bama!!! This could be the death blow (6 min left in the game) in this low scoring game... if they don't **** it up, of course.

            • It's too bad that Alabama lost Prothro. They could've been a good team if he hadn't went down, but now they can't even put away Tennesee.

              • HAHA!!

Tennessee was about to go in for the winning score (as it looks in this game) and fumble it out of the back of the end zone and Bama gets a touchback!

                • 3-3 near the end of the game. Pathetic.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. • The question of how Penn State would respond to their heartbreaking loss last week has been answered:

They are up 49-3 in the second quarter.

                      • It's roast duck tonight for the BRUINS! Finally, a relatively easy win after three weeks of come-from-behind victories.

                        • Perhaps I was wrong about Oklahoma. They've been pushing into overtime by... Baylor.

The Sooners really are bad, no matter who you're comparing them to. (And woe upon the Huskers if they manage to lose to them next week.)
