Aside from keeping dips on the hydrocarbons, why allow Alberta into NAFTA? What does Alberta make that can't be made just as easily in, say, Ontario or other places?

Quebec makes the point not disputes it. Generally only francophones are interested in separation. It is incredibly unpopular among anglophones and allophones and pretty much anyone that has come to Quebec from ANYWHERE outside Quebec. 1. No matter how newfoundlanders (in NL or AB or anywhere else) feel about Canada, they generally have a strong and long-lasting connection to Newfoundland
