Separation of Alberta is highly unlikely if the feds don't try to pull another National Energy Program. People here enjoy an affluent lifestyle and the government has what looks like lots of money so its difficult for the rank and file to get to upset about the fact that they could be even more affluent without Canada.

Secondly a LOT of "Albertans" moved here from elsewhere in Canada during their own lifetime and still feel strong links to their own home region. Alberta separation would hurt those regions economically.

Third, would regions of Alberta have the option to secede from Alberta?? I ask because anecdotally, it appears that the Fort MacMurray region ( with its billions of barrells of oil) is populated by people, a majority of whom were born in Newfoundland.

The Trudeau delusion that you can build a credible nation with "national social programs" is so shallow it's absurd.
            Nations with social programs

            Germany

            Nations without social programs

            Rwanda

Ben, move to Alberta and lead the revolution.
Nay, I was thinking of providing american 'support' for the revolution. I don't see why Alberta has to go at it alone, when they have their bosom buddies to the south.

Just like the support your bosom buddies are giving to the Albertan cattle industry right now.

Read my post again. I specifically don't talk about your money, I'm talking about your people. I'm sure plenty of Canadians would feel relieved not to have to cope with Canda's Texans anymore

I bet the Québecois, as people, are better liked by the Canadians than the Albertans

Yeah I can't think of too much I'm jealous of in Alberta. Quebec, well I hear Montreal has some of the most beautiful women on the planet. And Texas, well I can imagine the music/bar scene is just awesome.

As has already been said, you guys can secede but we'll partition out what we want to keep. Like the oil sands for example.
