Being dyslexic is hard work. I don't even try anymore.
My mom is apparently buying into this BS that Terri is still residing in that husk. I tried explaining to her that "no cortex = no Terri", that the videos they've been showing on the major networks are A) heavily edited to make it seem like Terri is on the verge of breaking into song and dance and B) somewhat out-of-date...by several years, and that a lot of medical professionals agree that Terri ain't coming back from the edge she crossed a long time ago. No, my mom is CONVINCED that it's about the money(!) and that my being against the meat sack formerly known as Terri Schiavo being kept on life support (at state expense, I could care less if the family pays...it's their money they're wasting, not mine) is because I'm a man and she's a woman; that I'm a closet sexist.
Jesus tap-dancing Christ, she's as batty and paranoid as her mother when she goes off her meds. And this isn't the first time she's implied as much. Next, she'll be telling me I'm a racist homophobe...
For those, like Mrs. Tuberski, that don't already know, I'm one of the gay Apolytoners. Also, living in Reno, there isn't much cultural diversity, but I've had black friends (who've all moved away ) and have an asian friend who because of her nursing program I don't get to see all that often any more. Almost all the friends I've ever had in RL are female and she knows I have homosexual friends. I honestly don't get where she's getting it that I'm sexist. I'm "one of the girls" for Pete's sake.
And my mom? Although a registered Republican, she is liberal. She has the whacky notion that, as a liberal in Republican disguise, her vote cancels out that of a real Republican.
The cake is NOT a lie. It's so delicious and moist.
The Weighted Companion Cube is cheating on you, that slut.
Frankly, I think keeping a person tied to a feeding tube for 10 years probably would have exhausted the $700k. Then again, maybe we should ask Guy if that is a reasonable assumption to make.
That money is long gone. Even staying in a simple room with spartan care it would be gone by now.
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!
Hey Goldmember, Hey Goldmember!
Do you have to pay the medical costs for complications caused by medical malpractise? Seems a bit unfair to me, if they screw it up they can pay for the results.
I wish these right to lifers would just go home already. The court has ruled umteen times and they have nothing new to offer yet still they keep claiming it is illegal and immoral.
I also love the hypocracy in that when the state judge didn't rule in their favor he became an evil facist and a bad, bad, man. they claimed the case just had to be moved to federal court and even went so far as to get the Republican hypocrits in Congress to pass a special law (which will be overtuned in the courts) to allow them to do so. Funny thing though the Federal court looked at the case and said the state court ruled correctly upon the law and refused to take action. Now they're having Gov. Bush attempt all sorts of underhanded and illegal tricks and they're calling the federal judge a corrupt and bad, bad, man!
Another thing I've always wondered is why are nearly all of these "right to life" groups pro-death penalty? Bush gushes on and on about the the need to "respect life" but he just couldn't wait to brag about how he signed the death orders, as governor of Texas, on more convicts then any other governor in history.
If someone is going to claim they're motivated solely out of a desire to save lives then they should be consistant and not have people killed by the state.
Well, you folks don't seem to get the real story here. Schavio isn't the story. Schavio is a pawn. The real story is the actions of the Bush brothers, which seem to me to constitute the greatest threat to American liberty since the days of Nixon.
Oh, but what can I say. You folks were never that smart to begin with.

I guess it would be fair to say that you haven't spent a lot of time in fundamental churches have you?

Then there's the husband, Michael. Yes, maybe he is acting in good faith, and trying to carry out her wishes. Seems to me, though, that he's at the point now where he should just say "**** it", and get a divorce so the parents can decide (and pay).
The only reasonable explanation I can see for this, and that I would agree with were I in his situation, is that he deeply loves his wife and is fighting to the end to make sure her wishes are fulfilled and she does not live on in such a state.
Were I in his shoes, I'd do the exact same thing for someone I loved. I couldn't just say "**** it" and leave them to continue on that way.
