  • Dating Between Friends

Have you ever had a friend of the opposite sex, who is probably one of your best friends, and then you realize how much you like her - and not in a "she's cute I wanna nail her" way, either?

Anyway, do you think this kind of thing is a good idea, and how would you approach this friend and keep the "weird" factor down?

    All hypothetical, naturally

I've been on the other side of that.

          Bad idea.

            Man... you're in troubles

            All hypothetical, naturally :cute

The question should be: "is it possible to keep a friendship with someone of the opposite sex?"

However, I have a friend who is now the boyfriend of his traditionally best female friend... They're quite happy
I have no smart advices, but if she's your best friend I guess you wont have many problems in talking to her in a natural way (yeah, I know how this sounds... ).

I have been only able to discover three reasons to date a woman:

                1. To nail her.
                2. To use her (not noble but still....)
                3. To find out if you are in love or just have a stomach virus, similar feelings but one is over in a day or two, while the other results in at least 18 years of child support payments.

Go for it David. It's your natural right and if you don't you will regret it for the rest of your sorry life.

Probably true. And the worst thing that could happen wouldn't really leave me any worse off than I am now, right?

"What's the worst thing that could happen, ********?"

                  "I could DIE!"

                  Where's that quote from?

If she's a casual friend, not a problem.
If she's a best friend or very good friend, big mistake.

Assuming she is the latter, why?

I also tend to agree with you, but just wanna hear your reasoning.

Well, the chances are you've grown to like her as a really good friend and your hormones are just getting the best of you.

A lot of people who get along great as friends can't stand being any more than friends, and once they break up that friendship is ruined forever...

I don't agree with Asher at all, I find that best friends or good friends often make the best foundations for sucessful relationships. After all, the old saying is "Happiest is the groom who marries his best friend."
I say you go for it Dave.

I'm in the same boat, David, maybe a little farther along. I've asked her out and she's accepted.

                              I'm interested as well, Asher.
