Well, many nimes, like Keijo, Seija, etc... are pronounced with two j's. Often when 'j' appears after 'i', it is pronounced as a double-j. The 'vv' is much rarer, and many dialects don't have it all. In some parts of Finland, though, words like 'kauan' are pronounced 'ka(u)vvan'. And when words merge together, like 'kuvvaan (kun vain)' etc. the double-v appears.

You know, it was only a hair's breadth on the scales of chance that stopped this thread from being "Evil, evil Sweden". I've borne a grudge against the Swedes ever since I made the mistake of watching an Ingmar Bergman film. Sadistic bastards.

It's true. The film was "The silence", and I spent two hours feeling my very life being sucked out through my eyeballs. 60 minutes in I was contemplating gnawing off one of my fingers in a bid to break the tedium.

Were you forced to watch it so that you had to either watch the film or be mutilated by a dull pencil-sharpener's blade?

Well, i've been here every now and then before, but never had any reason to actually register or spam - untill now.
Bugs, you'll be happy to know that Finnish films are boring, gloomy, and about ppl with alcohol problems. That is if they're aware that drinking all day/night is a problem. Some Finns in here probably fall into that category.

Ok...now, before anyone starts to claim that the finns drink too much alcohol...
Have been watching quite a funny series from a finnish tv-channel. It tells a story about young british tourists who do nothing else but. And its quite sad to watch it. Its never like that in Finland!
And its NOT a finnish program. Had to add it.
And i say this because if you want to talk about a people who drinks too much, maybe we should start a new thread.
Thats all folks.
