The concept of CTP2 was truly great. The designers thought things out really well and design wise the game was far superior to Civ 1 or 2. However, in execution the game fell to pieces because Activision just wouldn't spend the money needed to create a bug free game. The AI was crap because activision wouldn't pay the money to get top notch talent to design a better AI and that story was repeated over and over for each area of the game.

I wouldn't have minded so much if they had at least patched and fixed the game but instead they released one tiny patch and abandoned the game and that is why I no longer buy games from Activision.

Which is why it needs almost a complete overhaul to be even marginally playable, ignoring the bugs?

The next Civ add on will probably feature sims which will populate your civ.

If they put in just a little bit of CtP it might be good. If they use some CtP concepts but have the Firaxis guys run things.

I don't want the series killed.

Opps, Firaxis did EU2 not Sims.

The really good news is that Soren Johnson (the head of Firaxis) is excellent at supporting his products. Firaxis is still releasing patches for EU2 and that game has been out for years. That means Civ is now in the hands of people who really care about putting together a quality product.

Firaxis didn't develop EU2, Paradox from Sweden under Johan Andersson did.

Also, Soren Johnson is just the lead designer for Civ 4, he's by no means the head of Firaxis.

Trip, you should warn people that is a joke.

I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

                              Civ coming home...
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
