Exactly. Within these two weeks Soviets defeated more Japanese than Allies did within 4 years ( I mean soldiers, not civilians, so nukes and firebombings doesn't count).

Armies effectively isolated with no further potential military value to the defense of their homeland would have delayed the end of the war...how, exactly?

Especially when the US was about to nuke the Japanese into surrender no matter what was happening in Manchuria...
