I would still rather buy from those people. I'm more of a socialist than a capitalist, so I figure buying from them is gonna help them, why would I want to make an already rich, big company richer with my money when I can spend it on charity and at the same time get a good product?

Anyway, the same applies to the situation here in Malaysia. I'm just helping out in my own small way the people who manufactured the clothes for those mega-giants who used that dirrrty tactic of outsourcing to many factories. Who's gonna buy the unsold product then? It's basically the same thing and no one's gonna pull my collar to check the label.

Socialist. They are two totally different things. I don't think all wealth should be spread evenly. What's the point of working then? But balancing it out a bit is fine I guess.

I usually buy pants and shorts for $20-30 a pair
I'll buy shirts for more than $20 if I really like them
I try to spend $25 or so per pair of shoes
Boxers & socks I just buy what is cheap at target, sears, or walmart.

I just don't see the point in spending obscene amounts of money on clothes when I can get stuff that looks just as good and lasts just as long for a fraction of the price.

The point is, the urban black youth were buying his clothes to be more like the rich whities.
Yes, or perhaps like their imagined ideal of the rich whities.

                    • and the capitalist refuse to buy those clothes the little kids in india because another factory in india employing little kids got the contract for delivering it a day earlier.

and so it's shipped to everywhere around the world, sold at slightly lower prices to bulk dealers in the black markets around the world, who still manage to make a profit while selling it much lower than would otherwise be if it were bought from the capitalist who exploit the little kids exploited in the factories of india

                      • I wear Ralph Lauren pants - I like their simplicity and trim cut. We go up to the outlet store, and they're not too bad. Mayb 70 bucks a pair or so.

I have one pair that looks very much like that.

I wear eddie bauer jeans, in this vein:

                        about $40.

                        • I favor $18 jeans and $5 pocket t-shirts, and wear them out before buying more.

My daily footwear are the ~$100 safety shoes that the company provides twice a year -- they are "street styled", since I work in a lab and don't need full boots. I haven't bought new shoes in over five years, and nobody can tell; my favorite are the steel toed Florshiem loafers I got last year -- it's like wearing slippers to work!

I purchased a $200 suit ten years ago in a conservative style and have kept it in good condition ever since.

I have a good quality black blazer that's almost as old as the suit.

I have a dozen $50 shirts I bought for $10 each from JC Penny's clearance table. Ten years ago.

I think you get the idea.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
