No. I'm not assuming anything. I open my eyes and see in the real world there has never been a job for every worker. Therefore, punishing people for stealing is immoral because some people have no other choice. That's not chicken little crap. I'm telling you about the real world, but you have your hands over your ears singing. La La La!

    • So I'm living in a fake world? A fake world filled with soup kitchens, day laborers, and government checks. Give me a break Kid, I see more than you care to give me credit for. There is never a reason to steal, though there may me plenty of excuses.

If you're requiring someone to do the impossible, then yes that is insane.

No you don't see it. You can't just rely on what you see. You have to depend on others to tell you about the real world. You obviously never had serious trouble making ends meet or finding a job. Good. That doesn't mean that everyone has the same experience. If you only rely on your own experience then yes, you are living in your own little world.

Really, and if its a single mother, who takes care of the baby?

Her relatives are either working or looking for work because there's no welfare. And they're poor with few job qualifications so they can only get part time work.which means they're all scraping by.

So what happens to the baby?

            • No you don't see it.
Come and visit me, and see where I live buddy.

You can't just rely on what you see.
              But you can?

You have to depend on others to tell you about the real world.
I live it, and others confirm it...

You obviously never had serious trouble making ends meet or finding a job.
I struggle with making ends meet every day, and I have worked jobs that I loathed so that I can get where I am today. And I have had trouble getting those first few jobs... I have lived on water and bones, and that made me want to get up even more.

That doesn't mean that everyone has the same experience.
I am not saying that everyone has the exact same experience, but everyone faces or will face the same problems I have.

If you only rely on your own experience then yes, you are living in your own little world.
              And you yours.

              • Japher, you seem to not realize that I'm not trying to tell you that your experiences are false, but you are telling me that mine are, and millions of people with similar experiences. I've already said that I believe that you had that experience. So don't tell me that I don't.

                • ok, Kid...

You say that ppl need help sometimes.

                  I agree.

However, the help they are being given is not the help they need. If we continue with the way the help is given many will become dependent on it. Granted many will get to their feet, but that is the hard way out, and not everyone (and I would argue that not even a majority) cares to take the hardway out.

Let me guess, you came from a poor, poor family. Your parents are both alcoholic high school drop-out and so are you. You were beaten as a kid and as a result, have anti-social tendencies. But naturally, someone wanted to hire you. You started working 26 hours a day when you were 16 and saved your pennies by living in a cardboard box. By working hard, you were promoted because the hardest worker always gets promoted. Then the sun came out and through your hard work you had become a millionaire.

And the majority of welfare recipients have done the same. Most of them go on welfare for brief periods of time and then they find work.

There are people who abuse the system, but why destroy a system that helps millions of honest people because of a few crooks.

Yes, that's exactly what I said. Why, verbatim, almost. Good to see your reading comprehension is up to par.
