  • I would assume you see most "pagan" gods as figments of men's imagination- how many of them were "cute and cuddly"?
Do I? No. I think they have some part of God in them, some awakening and understanding of his nature, and his reality.

This is why people like Plato, find their ideas rather compatible, (though not entirely,) with Christianity.

Man creates in his own image.
And where does his own image come from?

    • And that is just what I am trying to say. God is not all loveable or cuddly. People want a God that is more loveable and cuddly, for the reasons that you have stated here.

They see injustice, and cruelty, and all kinds of suffering in the world, and they wonder how God can be merciful if he permits such suffering to occur.

What we forget is that our time here on earth is so short. The bad will not last forever.

I think usually a mirror, reflections in water, photographs, paintings, drawings, et cetera.

It's this weird ability called 'sight' which the majority of humanity (and quite a lot of animals) possess.

Err, a tad difficile that one:

          Plato : 428-348 B.C.

Christianity: quite a bit after Plato was dead.

            • Horse you shouldn't get credit for this troll action.

I mean anyone could have done it, it takes no skill. You could have let one of the junior trolls handle it.

I have to admit it's pretty fun though.

For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

I've pretty much retired from fulltime trolling but I do like to make the occasional guest appearances like at the hall of fame dinner etc.
