  • i've been on effexsor(150mg), wellbutrin, zoloft(300mg) and a bunch of others i don't remember. the 3 i mentioned i was on for a few months at a time and they all seemed to have similair effects of making me into a semi-functioning human being from a non-fuctioning one. i was on a few(of what?) for only a day or two each when i was hospitalized. the only one with major negative side effects was zoloft which made me gain about ~50 lbs very quickly. after i went off zoloft i went back to my normal weight without any trouble. pretty much all the antidepressants i've taken have given my stomach aches for a few days at first but after that i've fine.

meds did help me quite a bit at first but nothing i've taken has really had any staying power. it seems like i'm practically immune to antidepressants now. compared to how powerful they were at first(euphoria type feelings usually, now i understand why people take drugs!), it's amazing how i've adjusted to them.

Quite right. I saw that add for social whatnot disorder, and the symptoms were exactly the same as another common problem: adolesence .

        • yes but some of us with social anxiety have those problems into their 30's. And 100 times worse.

You are supposed to grow out of being self concious about yourself, but I haven't.

On the plus side it has motivated me to lose weight and get to my ideal weight

            I just hated people.

Yes, now I was very stable and well balanced in my teenage years, had very little problems associated with adolescence...probably how I managed to get on so well educationally, but I seem to have 'grown up' less than my peers (in a good way), but my anxiety and depression started from about the age of 18 onwards...

              • I have no depression really- though I'm far from a happy person.

They say depressed people get sick more often. But I never get sick. I have a really strong immune system.

I was only depressed in 1995 and 1996.

Now it's just a problem of social anxiety.

If I drink enough anxiety isn't much of a problem. But self-medicating with alcohol does have it's problems. It makes me very irritable for days after drinking- even if I have no hangover. It makes getting through the day much harder if I'm not drinking.

Be very grateful that you don't understand.

That sounds an awful lot like me.
Seconded.. except writing, but I need escapism.

I'm off the stuff now and just "going with it". Going down unfortunately but every cloud...

Alcohol could have a long term depressive effect on me if it gave me a downer...

Also since taking the prozac, my immune system has been on better form too...

So what actually happens when you have a seizure?

                            • actually I believe they are awake during seizures. That's the scary part about them. You know what's going on, you just can't do anything about it.

Because my girlfriend, oddly enough, has no effect on the chemical imbalance in my head. Yes, I do have a relatively good life, but that doesn't change the fact that there is something wrong with my brain.

Btw, I never cried for help. In fact, I did all I could to convince people that I wasn't depressed. And, actually, that's one of the symptons of depression; you don't want to help yourself.
