Obviously Tony isn't that reliable. I think we will get an answer either way shortly. I suggest that what ever happens that we start the ball rolling to enter into an almost-PA with PAL that freezes out other people from tech trades (at least). It is the only way that we will compete with Imperio in the short term.

I really didn't think they'd be able to put the trade on ice. I expect Imperio to complete the Oracle and claim Feudalism, but as long as they don't get CS we can be happy.

Now the ball is in Imperio's court. What will they do? Let's hope that they delay the Oracle for another turn or two, so we can cash in bigtime. If they wait as little as 2 turns, it'll be ours! Cross your fingers...

a) Do we think (or do we have any C&D info) on whether or not PAL can / will take a shot at the Oracle? I don't know if I'm reading too much into it but the wording of their response ("we'll hold off till you complete the oracle" vs. "We'll hold off till the Oracle has fallen") made me wonder

b) Depending on our answer to a), would it be worth sending PAL another note asking them to make some sort of delaying note to Imperio, rather than just specifically not trading it to them. I don't know what they could say since I am assuming that Imperio can see that they researched CoL so there aren't really any excuses.

Just a thought.

@rego - I'm not worried about the wording. And if another team lands to big O before us, I'm not worried about that either. Both short term stuff.

However, I would like to send an email to PAL discussing a tech consortium (us and them) that is exclusive (ie no other tech trading allowed). I think this is the only way that we can compete against Imperio in the short to medium term.

@Regoarrar - I don't think any sort of note from PAL would make sense. Better to just pretend to not see the trade request or something if you're them.

@Ruf - I agree with you, but I highly doubt PAL will go for it. They'll want to milk their gatekeeper position between continents for all it's worth.

I really doubt they'll go for that. They seem to like being the mansa characters. However, we could suggest that we both don't trade anything major with imperio?

I logged into the game and put a sign over my proposed filler wine city. Also I put in a trade offer with PAL of Monotheism for Code of Laws.

So I wasn't that far off with my scenario, that PAL will use our horses to attack one of their neighbours. At least they had the decency not to pick Banana.

We have to protest mightily about them using our horses to attack Rabbits.
