I like it but I'd like to send it as part of a longer email when war is declared. I'd like to offer them the posiitons of Imperio coastal cities and ask for military assistance.

I like this idea ... but there is nothing wrong with 2 emails. Send this one and a follow up when (if?) war is declared. Sort of like ...

"PAL, War is declared! Now, here is an idea - feel up to taking a shot at the East coast of Imperio while we tie them up in the West?"

Let's send this while Imperio's troops are still on our border. (Just in case they do decide to back down.)

EDIT: Imperio already moved back their stack, so let's include pictures of Templar stacks too before they step back as well. (Imperio's SoD in border city alone will not convince PAL, but added to Templar units along our border it looks more intimidating.)

Somebody, please make screenshots before Templars move.

Re Imperio Stack ... our city is 1 tile SW of the Imperio chariot. As you can see, they can be on our door step in 1 turn and we are facing your elephants.
Re Templar Stack ... sure, it isn't much - mainly horse archers and swords(!) but it does indicate a two pronged attack is brewing.

We could even use sunrise's screenshot that he placed in spoilers on the first page of Turnplayer Thread #4. That photo is after the tile flip and shows Imperio's stack RIGHT on our borders.

Hi, I'm fine with the kind of email being proposed. I'll not get into the writing of it because most of the work here has been done well by others. I prefer Zeviz's version but Ruff's is OK too.

As we have said previously, we are not researching towards Liberalism. Our offer of trading Engineering for Philosophy still stands but we will enhance this offer with a caste iron guarantee that we will not begin to research neither education, nor liberalism until Turn 165. Further, we will not seek to acquire, nor accept via trade either of these technologies from any other party (excluding yourself) for the same period.

If you ask us to, TRB will send a copy of this agreement to Banana. In this way, if we break this agreement, the diplomatic fallout and resulting damage to our reputation would vastly out weight any benefit we might gain from breaking this pledge by going for Liberalism ourselves.

Team Realms Beyond has a definite game plan for the foreseeable future that does not involve liberalism, nor any technology (excluding philosophy) leading towards liberalism.

Cres sent us a quick acknowledgment that he posted our email into their forums.

Without screenshots, the message loses most of its power. (The purpose was not to make another empty promise, but to show what our priority is.) Can we at least send following followup:

Our previous message forgot to mention an Imperio stack of over a dozen units (with 8 cats and 5 strength 8 units) parked on our border. With a threat like that, researching peaceful techs and building Universities is the last thing on our mind.

had a chat with cres in game - here is a summary of what we talked about:

• asked him to check on feedback from our latest email (philosophy trade) - he said there was no comments after posting it 29 hrs ago
• he then went further and said that we shouldn't expect a trade as PAL thinks that we will win this game ... thus they will be trying to slow us down (my words, not his)
• I filled him in on our situation re Imp and Templar (expiring NAP, units on our border, etc), also told him about the road pillage - hope I didn't over step here
• we briefly discussed the various power charts (I implied that we couldn't see templars - he said we were the strongest on our continent)
• he claimed he is only the diplo guy - not actually part of the team - said he was a noob (sunrise - do you know this guy?)
• I asked him about the impact on PAL if Temp and Imp close borders - he said about 16commerce ... he initially took it as a trade imbargo thread - I (hopefully) cleared that up
• I also mentioned the loss of resource trades - think he missed my hint that we would lose ivory - but he did say that he things PAL will try and maintain the balance (which is consistent with what they have told us before)
• I asked about the Rabbit war - he said they had no units inside their borders - that PAL was off attacking a barb city

@Ruff - I know Crescentfresh. He's a decent player, like me. MissLadyLuck, who played PAL's opening but no longer participates, is an elite player.
