That isn't too cool - PAL gets our trade routes but we loose access to theirs and their elephant?

Offer made.
Proposed message to accompany it:
Hi PAL,
since you don't want to trade us any techs that lead to Liberalism (despite our guarantee not to race you to it) we offer you Engineering for Optics. (the offer stands in-game)
You will see that the offer is very much in favor to you beaker-wise. We hope you will return that favor to in the future.
As you know we are facing an Imperio/Templars(/Rabbits) alliance (check out the F4 screen for active trades) we would like to see our civs working closer together.
TRB
Otherwise, I send it in an hour or so for the trade to take place this turn.

Need to stay in touch with PAL. Here's an email.
Hi PAL,
Thought we'd update you on what's happening over on our continent. Templars have declared on us and sent a stack at us but it is composed of outdated units and no problem for us. Imperio have not done so but we remain guarded. We are not particularly worried about them and have both fronts covered. Imperio have been acting strangely toward rabbits. They sold them mathematics for 4 gold! Also have some weird gold trade going on. What is your relationship with them and what do you think about giving away mathematics to them?
What are your NAP statuses with civs on our continent? Would you be interested using your forces against a civ on our continent? If you are, we can provide details of their cities and army. Obviously there is more room for negotiation here but a broad level of interest from you would be appreciated. It would certainly be easier than digging out those entrenched rabbits.
Anyway, we've hit a bit of a wall regarding tech trades between our teams, which is unfortunate. We'll stop bugging you about an engineering deal. When you decide you want the tech, shoot us an email. Is optics off your trade list too? Can you let us know if there's a tech you have or will have soon that you are willing to trade to us?

I don't have a problem with that. If, say, PAL build galleons and go all out with us to kill Imperio then Imperio will go down quickly, having to defend 2 fronts. That would carve their territory up, with us getting the majority of cities. Then they would have, say 2 or 3 cities on our continent that would be very hard for them to defend and could be easily taken.
In any case, I doubt our information would be a huge amount of use for them. I'm just fishing for their NAP agreements and if there's a wish to join in our war.

I agree with sooooo. Logistics work in our favor here. Not only will it cost us less effort to conquer cities, we'll also be able to defend them easier. The only possible downside would be that PAL gains valuable resources they lack right now. Is there any intel on that?
I can even imagine a scenario where we lure PAL to attack our neighbours, allowing us to strike at their heartland somehow.(But that is probably due to lack of MP experience)

Indeed, I gathered this was the spirit in which the message was sent. PAL's got enough problems on their own continent to engage in one on ours, I'd imagine. But floating the idea doesn't hurt, and keeps communication flowing between our teams. (sooooo's message do a good job of making us sound concerned but not panicked regarding our neighbors. I like it.) We should probably also keep in mind that for this game Vassal States are on, which means idiotic colonial maintenance costs any time a civ plants more than two cities on another continent. Yes, that will be a serious deterrant regarding the Terra continent.
In case it wasn't clear already, I favor sending the proposed message. Keep talking to everyone, all the time.
