I agree with Zevis. As long as the email is friendly I don't see the need to delay sending it. I get that PAL might be slightly suspicious that we're actually researching Engineering, but that's a non-issue since we aren't asking for them to trade anything before we have the tech.

You can send an email if you want but it just appears impatient to me. I'd just wait until the turn ticks over, then offer the deal in-game, send an email saying we'd like to make it this turn and if you don't want to trade then just cancel the deal.

Pal has Paper now. Would we consider trading maps with them?
They are probably benefiting from it more than us (Magellan, our continent, Rabbits lands?) but we would gain line of sight into their cities and could improve our C&D production tally.

Maybe in the same trade with the Philo vs. Engineering.

Engineering - Philo trade is already in their favour beaker-wise, so I wouldn't offer it up-front, however it might be a way of further incentivising the trade.

If I were PAL I wouldn't make the trade either. It is in their interest to not let anyone on our continent have an advantage. That is why they suplied us all with elephants and let us meet banana. I think they might be regretting letting us meet banana now. Since Imperio and Templars are acting strangely (and badly?) then they don't want us to get nationalism and drafting quickly to kill them. Engineering is not that useful for them right now. To the tech thread to decide on a new plan.

While we wouldn't expect you to give away your game strategy, we would like a little feedback on why you turned us down in order for us to make sensible trade offers in the future. Was it a reluctance to give away philosophy or not seeing a need for engineering? Or some other reason? If we know these answers then we won't waste our time thinking of trade options that you won't accept. Is there any tech trade that you can see us making in the future? We are working on Drama atm. What about you?

PAL wants to say they have no immediate need for engineering and they
don't want to give away technologies that lead to wonders PAL might
build.

Philo unlocks Angkor Wat. Or are they saying any future wonder? If so, they are they ruling out all future tech trade as there is always a wonder down the track.
