I did include a request to be paid by credits (as Snoddasmannen suggested), but that option wasn't pursued I see due to Angel lack of credits.
You agreed that they should compensate, didn't you? So did Snoddasmannen IIRC. And so did I.

Anyway, I guess it's too late now.
    Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

    • Hmm, it'd be nice to hear a confirmation from the Angels they have switched to IntInt.

      • No harm in asking. I sent this PM to Mart:

Content of a Private Message from Googlie to Mart

        Mart:

Some in the Junta are gettting antsy - can you confirm in the Embassy whether you have switched to Int Int this year, and is there an estimated research-completion date?

Why don't we send the Invincible up the Gaian coastline again to pop that pod we left there, then make for a PK base for a turn to heal completely? (Pactmate) Then with its full mps restored it can mosey down the PK western coast and round the southern tip to get to the Angels homeland?

          • Sounds like a plan to me!
And by the way, the Gaians get for their uncreative use of landmarks. "Placeholder 6"?? Ok I see the purpose of it, but come on, you can do better than that Gaia

            • Go get those pods. Healing the ship is a good idea too.

Yes. Maybe we should also send them a note saying "it isn't a landbridge, actually".

                  So how prescient was that?

                  Spartan-Angel Embassy, MY 2154

                  To Spartan Federation,
We confirm that we received Optical Computers technology and our current research effort has been redirected to Intellectual Integrity.

As for the expected year of completion I have only very rough estimate. Our current research cost is 496, and due to social settings laboratories contribute only 17 points per turn. We direct however 40% of economy towards psych, and only 30% towards labs, since we suffer drone problems. It is necessary to maintain workers in the field rather than doctors.

With completion of several network nodes we expect to increase lab share in economy, as well as population of workers bringing more energy to our bases when children creches are completed. My very rough and objective estimate would be thus around 2166-2170. This is however very inacurate.

                  • Oh man what a disaster ... I guess this'll teach us not to make deals which are not well specified ... I'd love some infiltration on them to see if they're even telling the truth.

                    • I believe them

They don't have any rec commons (only getting Social Psych from us 2 turns ago) so they are going to have the same kind of drone problems that we are having - but we can solve ours with units given our police rating.

The Angels are -1 Police, so don't have that luxury.

They are on a building binge with network nodes (with the Virtual World that gives them the equivalent of a holotheater, which reduces # drones at that base by 2 as well as giving that base a 50% boost in psych output.)

So right now, given that they need the minerals to build the NN's, they have to have their psych setting cranked right up, which means skimping on research.

They'll get a boost in research when an NN's comes on line, but they can't really change their slider allocations 'cos that would just create drone problems at the bases without NN's

But getting it from them is still faster than researching it ourselves - and without the givaways in techs that it'd have needed for Morgan to do it for us.

We'll just have to keep Yang sweet while we wait for it

                            • Do we owe the Angels any reply?

(such as "We're disappointed it's going to take so long to get Int Int, but, yes, we do understand. We ourselves have an abysmal research rate due to our running 'Fundy'.

"But we do have a bushelful of technologies acquired by various means, and while we realize that your cash is at a premium for internal building programs, might you be interested in purchasing any techs from us?"

(I was thinking mainly of Ecol Eng, which Morgan gets next year. By then everyone except the Angels and Gaians will have it, and we should try to make some money off it before Morgan meets the Angels)

These 6 below are the techs we have that they don't yet possess:

                              • I posted a confirmation for the Angels that the tech trade is a go. I'd prefer if one of our Colonels were to continue organizing it with the Angels from now on, since I have, well, no idea about it.

Also a bump since fishing this thread out for the embassy address is somewhat bothersome.
