  • You can ignore Curt's last batch file.

That will only work if you re-download his scenario files as well and replace all your scenario files again... But the scenario also includes the correct batch file now, so no need to download any separate batch files anymore (hopefully).

    • I foresee mass confusion!

Only ignore my last batch file if you are using anything other than the recommended file naming convention.
The way things are looking we are going to end up with more than one version of Dictator7's multifiles.

In that case, I will continue to support the units1/units2/units3 convention. It has caused no trouble for me.

If people install things exactly as I pointed out, and use exactly the files I listed, there can be no errors!

This confusion erupted from myself and McMonkey experimenting with malfunctioning
batches and trying all sorts of crazy fixes. We sorted it out by following your advice.

I always intended to use the same standard naming system, similar to Red Front.

I'm using the scenario download from post #209 and the multifiles download from post #167. Still I get the 'file not found' error while using your latest batch file?

          • Below are the same files I am using now, and I can assure you that I have had no problems. If you download these and
continue to hit trouble, tell me how you are going aboutinstalling the files, as that is where the problem will lie -

Get rid of all the stuff, except your save and sound folder, and then install these...Remember to make an 'Events'
folder and put all the events marked 'Events1/Events2/Events3/etc' into it! The batch will look in the folder.
Also put the 'Units1/Units2/Units3/etc', and 'Rules1/Rules2/Rules3/etc' into the main folder, along with the
usual files. if you (and everyone else) follows these intstructions, you cannot go wrong! (I hope!)

              • Yep!

And the Moscow one spawns in Leningrad!
I have fixed both of these, and will add the updated events in the next update!

                Cheers for spotting that one!

How did you find the Stalingrad battle? Was it a challenge, or too easy?

                  • I must say that it looked worse then it was in the end. I managed to get the Stalingrad breakout in two turns. If you take longer than that, you're in some serious trouble I think. Plus I had the advantage of winter time. Then all units have to come up close to your city walls, so I could put my field guns and tanks to maximum use without having them leave the city.

Btw, did you lower the attacking value of the Stuka? It seems less powerfull in this game then the first.
About other attacking values: about the only tankunit I'm building is the Jagdpanzer IV. It's by far the most effective unit. For defense I use some Panthers. So the Tiger, my favorite in Dictator6, is mostly unused; too expensive with too little impact.

The generals are now very sparse, I think i got three by now.

Well, since Churchill once said he'd continue the war in Canada if he had to ... maybe the Nazis care covering their bets.

                        Good tactics!
And a wise move getting the breakthrough tech quickly.

I had designed things so that if the German player takes too long, the Soviets will make them pay heavily!

I actually avoided Stalingrad as the Germans, and went straight down to Maikop/Tiflis/Baku and all that lovely oil!
One of the best tactics that the Germans can employ is to put massive emphasis on the desert war and gaining the
Middle East, coupled with the capture of the Caucasus, it cripples both the Allies and Soviets, leaving the Germans
in a very strong economic position...Then it is rush-purchase time!!!

I considered the Stuka too powerful...And I admit, the mobile artillery units are my favourite too...Although the tanks
are useful for defending the weak arty, and also for blasting infantry, and seizing targets. Headlong rushes at cities
with tanks are a bad idea, unless the city has only weak units inside...The Tiger is expensive, but is a great defender!

I wanted them to be random, and it seems to work!

Jeez, your knowledge of North American geography is as abysmal as that of most North Americans. The wayward SS trooper is in New Brunswick, not Newfoundland. Newfie is a large island off the coast of Labrador.

                          • Well, I got the 'New' part right.

I did get to Maikop and Tiblisi before I got Stalingrad. I completely ignore North Africa, and go from Baku towards Baghdad and Kuwait, with my eastern armies after cleaning out the soviets. That way I can use all the troops I build in europe for my invasion of Britain.

                              • And btw, I might have seen it wrong, but the StgIII version in summer '42 had a long barrel, while the winter '42 version had a short barrel again. Is that correct?
