  • Rob, does your effort prove the 'save as scenario' method is indeed unusable for fixes of a real game?
I don't understand why you rotated all civs? You could choose Hittites and play them immediately, couldn't you?

At this point we know barbs are working and we are testing how they behave and if they visit all civs about equally.
Since a start of a scenario may reset some counters I would prefer to continue the original game.

Not sure yet whether it might introduce anomalies or not. It looks fine at first glance, though. I still have illusions, when/if we start a real game, of trying to set up a .net session to jump start through the first 10-20 turns, then switch it into a .hot game once turns get complicated. A .net approach could really fly through some of these early turns, especially we we modify the .ini file for simultaneous. Logistics/coordination/time zone issues will probably never let that work, though.

No, everyone was stationary. I thought something else was wrong, at first, till I noticed the game year. So I cycled through everyone...same thing...all units frozen (since they'd already moved), but production incremented, so a few civs had newly produced units. I figured I might as well go through these psuedo-turns rather than wait a week for everyone to press CTRL-N. If we're all going to do the 3340 turn over again, might as well do it from my original save.

Good point, I really have no idea how the barb spawning processes do that (or even whether they try to be equal at all). Again, initial impressions were good, the new horde appeared in the least affected part of the world. But it really does compromise our test. Does the system keep some kind of internal record of where they've appeared? Do they count red units currently on map? Is it completely random? Are some areas just more barbie prone? Restarting might indeed reset something I hadn't considered; but at least we know it seems to use the standard turn counter rather than some unseen "turns since scenario started" counter in deciding WHEN/IF barbs appear (hordes at least, I wasn't paying close enough attention to pirates, which seem more game year dependent).

Plat that sounds like an objection to me, and a reasonable one, at that. Why don't you just re-download my original 3340 save and redo your 3340 turn. Remember to CTRL-N when you see my two blinking units (or you can move them, one due north, one due south). Even if Pal and Peaster object to the objection, I'd be more comfortable if you posted a correct HA-3340 turn, if only for practice so you won't screw up again, next time I give you something screwed up.

On the plus side, the Hittites hopefully won't waste so many goodie huts generating more barbs next turn. ST, you want to do the honors for the Minoans and Hittites if I'm out of action? You can use my upload as a model for where my units are going, at least, if you'd like. Or Plat would you like to try your hand at managing another civ or two?

      • Rob, why you don't finish your 3340 turn? I think it should be a solution also in a standard game - you see a flashing unit, so you send the game back.

Concerning the Minoans and Hittites - I play 2 civs already ....

            • Huh? I think RR wanted Plat to replay 3340, but ST wanted RR to replay 3340 first (but RR may be away). And Pal just played 3330... ?

Confusing, but IMO someone (Plat?) should play 3340 at this point, starting with the Hittites or Babs. If there is no clarification soon, I'll just continue with 3330.

              • I can finish the Hittite 3340 turn for Rob if he is missing and then Plat can play from my save.
