    @ fairline

    I think that 'Airduel' was the US release name. It is called 'Dogfight: 80 Years of Aerial Warfare' originally and it was by Microprose UK. A very fun sim which allowed you to fly up to 2 aircraft from 6 eras, namely the Sopwith Camel and Fokker Triplane in WW1, the Spit and Bf 109 in WW2, F-86 and MiG-15 in Korea, F-4 and MiG-21 in Vietnam, Sea Harrier and Mirage in the Falklands, and F-16 and MiG-23 in Lebanon.

              • I'll e-mail my bank account number to you Jim

                You're a bit late though - I've bought a new'un today. This time it's a shiny Compaq, so it should hopefully last a bit longer than my previous three pieces of crap. On inspection, the last one had scorch marks on the motherboard!! That couldn't have been good for it methinks....

                    My first PoC was a DEC Rainbow: ran both MS-DOS 2.11 and CP/M! Anyone owned a Commodore or Apple II?

                      I did, a long long time ago... And it's amazing what they were able to get out of the meagre 64k of my old Commodore!

                      • No, my mate had a Commodore; I had a Sinclair ZX-81. I dreamed about owning a Spectrum

                        64k eh? I think the ZX-81 had 8k, or 16k with add-on module

                          That would probably be me, trying to run civ on it while the processor reached melt-down temperatures

                          • IIRC, events went MIA with FMK. Was anyone else working on them?

                            DEC wanted $2,000 US for a 5Mb hard-drive back then. Can't understand why neither the Rainbow nor the company survived!

                              I agree with you, but problems have developed.

                              The following 3 e-mails were sent earlier today. I have edited out the salutations and signatures.

                              ========================================
                              AGRICOLA to Field Marshal Klesh, with cc to fairline

                              How are things going? I just checked our correspondence file and noticed that our last exchange was almost 6 months ago.

                              Has real life permitted you to spend any time on the project or have you had to put it on the back burner?

                              I imagine that you are aware of the mess that the SL has been in for the last 3 months, trying to deal with an effectively crippled forum. The problem has finally been cleared up and the forum should be returning to near normal. If gfx are holding you back, I imagine that Gareth could be persuaded to move redux work to the top of his to do list.
                              ========================================
                              AGRICOLA to fairline

                              I received the following message, immediately after sending the e-mail to FMK and the cc to you.

                              "This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

                              Delivery to the following recipients failed.

                              xxxxxx@xxxxx.net "

                              I suspect that FMK and the redux are a dead issue. Any ideas?
                              ========================================
                              fairline to AGRICOLA

                              This is sad news. I guess I'll just post the grahics files, perhaps with a fix for less German units at the outset of the game.

                              I can't think of anyone who would take on Rob's work; can you?
                              ========================================

                              I have also tried to send a Poly PM to FMK. Message tracking shows that neither an e-mail notification has been sent to FMK nor gives the date/time when he was last online.

                              I have a copy of his summer 1941 events (TOT), part of a playtesting package that he sent me. I also have all RF TOT Redux correspondence with FMK. Most of it deals with the Ghost turn and similar peripheral matters.

                              I am reluctant to make the above available unless there is some kind of go-ahead from FMK. Does anyone know how to contact him?

                              • Well, thats just about the worst.... and I mean WORST Civ II development news I've heard in the longest time. Of all the projects I would have liked to see developed, Red Front's loss is the most disapointing.
