    these graphics upgrades are expected, no doubt.

    There is a lot of creative talent in this forum. We will play in a long time Civ 2.

              Those units in the screenies look pretty cack as well!

              I think Curt's new cities and terrain will be spectacular...

              BTW, I have pretty much finished my rehash of the units now. When Curt is done we'll be ready to release it. Tech, will you host it on your site?

                • It can go both places. I have a section on my site for converted scenarios with graphic updates, and I'd love to put Red Front there.

                      am going back to the drawing board and creating a new set!

                      Stay tuned!

                        I have 9 free units slots for lend lease, additionnal Allied units or additionnal German units (for the end of the game, for example)....

                        Some possible units :
                        * lend lease
                        - A-20 (in Chelyabinsk)
                        - P-39 (in Chelyabinsk)
                        - P-40 (in Chelyabinsk)
                        - Valentine (in Chelyabinsk and/or UK)
                        - Sherman (in Chelyabinsk and/or UK)
                        - Hurricane (in Ashkhabad)
                        - Spitfire (in Ashkhabad)

                        * Allied units
                        - B17
                        -artillery

                        And finally I think I will let the supply convoy unit.
                        I agree with Agricola that having to develop Soviet industry adds a great deal to the scen. And one way to force players to develop Soviet industry would be to have Supply Convoys taper off sharply during summer ’43.
                        I would suggest soviet units for eg

                        A su-76 mobile art as per my upgrade for the t-26 in rf 1.5
                        and maybe use the slots to stop auto upgrade of some units ie I-16 to la-5 for eg.

                        The su-76 is very important as it was the 2nd most populas unit with the exception of the t-34 series!

                        • Early units like the T-28 Medium, BT-7 Light, T26 Infantry Tanks and I-16 Fighter developing into T-34s and La-7 would add extra realism to the game.

                          The T-70 Light reconnaissance tank could evolve into the Su-76. There was also a KV-85 Heavy Tank that came between the KV-1 and IS-1 although not that many were produced.

                          I think the Soviets received a lot of M-3 Half-tracks and Universal/Bren carriers through Lend Lease. I am not sure how many Spitfires they got though!

                          The Churchill was quite popular when used in the breakthrough role of the KV-1 but its lack of mobility was a problem in the wast spaces of Russia.

                          Other ideas for the extra slots:

                          Dog mines - Dogs with explosives strapped to their backs who were trained to find food underneath armoured vehicles. An antennae on the mine would trigger the explosives when it hit the thin underbelly of an enemy tank.
                          These poor Dogs were only used for a limited time as they was the danger they would search for food under Soviet tanks which probably smelled more familiar. The Germans soon got wise and shot any dogs heading their direction!

                          120mm Mortar - Extremely effective weapon issued right down to battalion level. So good the Germans mass produced an almost identical copy. Good job they did not do the same with the T-34!

                          Cossacks!

                            You're right, the Su-76 was produced in large number. One slot for the SU-76.
                            And one Slot for the LA5 fighter to avoid some auto upgrade.

                            @McMonkey
                            the T-28 Medium, T26 Infantry Tanks and I-16 Fighter are already in game.
                            The BT-7 was only produced ~1200 (T26 more than 10000).
                            The T-70 is a good option to replace the T-26 (in the same Slot). The soviets shouldn't be able to produce the T-26 from winter 41/42 in the scn and should be able to produce the T-70 from summer 42 for example. (but there is a risk of auto upgrade)
                            The KV-85 was only produced ~130.
                            Could you develop your 120mm mortar unit idea?

                              • Some features :

                                CATFISH'S TOT VERSION 1.4 IS USED AS STARTING POINT
                                ---------------------------------------------------

                                * Eliminated the “Too many units” problem.
                                - Changed the .scn file by thinning out the rear echelons of the German forces by ~170 of the weakest units
                                (Romanian Inf, Wehrmacht, Stu III G etc.).

                                * The German units are not spawned by Event's file when units are killed but when any soviet city is captured by Germans.

                                * Minimize Soviet amphibious capabilities by making them unable to build any ships except those spawned by events in UK.
                                - Remove the Steel tech from Soviet tech list to make it impossible to build any ships.
                                - Make the Steel tech impossible to research from tech tree in the Rules files.

                                * Reduced the 2-turn movement capability of all Soviet aircraft to 1 turn.

                                * Eliminate some units loopholes.
                                - Put the La-5 in new slot rather than use existing I-16 slot.
                                - Put the P-47 in new slot rather than use existing La-5 slot.
                                - Put the G.I. in new slot rather than use existing Refugees slot.
                                - Put the M4A3 "Sherman" in new slot rather than use existing KV-1 Heavy Tank slot.
                                - Put the SU-152 in new slot rather than use existing SU-122 slot.
                                - Put the JS-2 in new slot rather than use existing T-34/76 slot.

                                * Give units a choice in what they pillage.
                                - Added Transporter in "@PILLAGEMENU" in the game.txt file.

                                * No disbanding of units (except freighters and supply convoys).
                                - Changed General flags in Advanced unit fields in the rules files.
                                - Supply convoys have to be disbanded in soviet cities to help production.

                                * No airlifting units from UK to the USSR.
                                - Removed "Air Force base" from the improvements the player can build.

                                * Increased number of Hedgehogs in german cities to make them tougher to conquer.
                                - Created a second hedgehog unit.
                                The first become Volkssturm w/MG43 in summer 44.
                                The second stays hedgehog until the end of the scn.
                                - The Events file spawns hedgehogs in several soviets cities captured by Germans.

                                * Placed floating mines at the mouth of some rivers.
