you forgot someone quit when they lost half their civ when the ai made a colony. No one has said that colonies were disabled in making this game.

However, from what I can see, there is an increasing likelihood that both France and myself will be unable to make it. I think if you have 2 or more people missing-especially out of 9-then it might be worth postponing. If it is just me who can't make it (and can't find a sub) then I will just wear it.

We should all do our best to find both Mali and France subs. Also if we fail we should try our best to get Ottomans a sub for April 12th since the dillema there is much bigger.
Yes it would be just one player but he would suffer as much damage as France would from AI rule.Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”

France can you not make this session? You say an early start may be better for you?
Postponing the session will hurt the game. Check old Diplo games!
Yes I understand it may hurt the game. I've just checked starting the game early will not be an option.
It all depends if we can find anyone to sub, and from what I'm hearing from the Mali, two subs would be needed.

The problem with this is that, once this happens others may want to skip a session for themselves if they can't make it some other time.

Oh, now the Mali understands. Its OK for them to be run by an interim government when important Affairs of State call the leader away, but its not OK for France. Hurrumph. Do I detect just a hint of racism?
If people are biased, I would say it is because the AI can colonise away all my cities, crippling my strategy and adding an AI player which is always bad.

OOC: I think this game can survive a single missed session, from what I've heard, HOTWXI failed to launch for a whole number of reasons. Here we are finished our 9th session and we are already in the 14th century. That's pretty good going if you ask me.
Nols has been very kind and has forwarded my mail to some of the people she knows. But so far, like the people I know, none can make it. I have to agree with mali 2/9 is not that few. Please help us find ok subs, heck any subs, even trainable monkeys that can press turn and follow instructions would not be worse than the AI.
Firaxis realy should add a option in the next patch:
/no colonies for AI civs/'Impossible' n'est pas français.

Yep, I get the sense that both Mali and France are doing their level best to find Subs within the regular MP community, but if no-one is available, then they're out of luck-aren't they? Why should they be penalised for something over which they have no control if they have done the leg-work during the week? Indeed, the only HOTWXII session we have played so far, where a civ has AI, was with Carpathia, but that was only because (a) they didn't tell us til the last minute that they couldn't play and (b) didn't arrange a sub and gave us no time to find one. Neither case applies this time around. I'm with Ozzy on this, if no subs can be found for BOTH players, then I suggest one week off.

Didn't mean to come off as a hardhead with that last comment, but I think in general games should not be postponed because of player absence.
It opens the door for alot of future issues IMO. Also, if players know that the game WILL go on without them this provides extra incentive to find a sub.
Now, I understand that this upcomming week is a special case... two players missing and the potential for France to get screwed because of a game mechanic.
In short, I don't have a problem with us skipping this week, but I hope it does not set a precidence for the future.YIM is CarpathiaCiv

Actually.... and this isn't a ploy or anything, but I can't make it this week. It looks like my video card is totally ****ed up. I don't think I'm gonna be able to play till I get a new one. I'll try and order something today, but it isn't going to come in time for this week's session.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012

Also, for those of you in the US (maybe elsewhere) who have Fox News Channel, I'll be on there tonight between 7 and 8 pm EST, so tune in.
And, I think this'll run on the regular Fox channel, but I'll also be on Fox's morning show (Mike & Juliet) Monday morning. That hasn't been confirmed yet, but I'll let you know when I hear back from them.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012
