Have the Ottomans found anyone for next week? You have more time than we had... Would mister Lincoln be ok to play as Ottomans next week?
Missing two session in a row would kill the game.

ok. so we skip this session and make sure to play the next. I'm not 100% against having a break, I seem to have lost a bit of touch with my civ due to other responsibilities. this will give me the time to do some creative thinking.

People this is a chance to make up if you have been behind on stories. The long winded guys like me are most likely out of material, and the votes for this session need not be sent for another week.

Session 8 (the one played two weeks ago) is a different matter, if you haven't voted yet, vote as soon as you read this.

As a storyteller extraordinaire (not) and with the most fantastic civ achievements (not), I am truly frightened by this statement, it will make so much difference to my score and chance of winning.
I have had limited time in the last 2 months working long hours and having 6 long distance trips in that time, including last weekend and this weekend for a wedding and a funeral, making sure I rush back for these sessions, this one which I now notice is canned. I just have not had time to give serious consideration to serious story telling, voting , diplomacy etc.

I think we should allow extenuating circumstances here and encourage the Otts to catch up just as soon as they can. No point in deadlines - he's never missed a session, always been on time and IS doing interesting stuff on the game (particularly diplomacy wise).

Is there even an actual rule that if you don't vote you can't receive votes?

I hope not, cuz I don't have a clue who votes and who doesn't. I would hate to throw away my votes by voting for someone who didn't vote that session.

I like Carpathia's idea of -10 points off your final score for every voting session missed.
Follows the age old KISS rule.

Of course all rules should be spelled out at the begining of the game, not halfway thru. So even though I think it would help keep people voting, I wouldn't want it applied to this game.

Something to consider for the future perhaps.

Cyber, you forgot the Mali, we voted for 7 and 8 on the 25th of March. I still need to vote for session 9 though.

Also, I fear that my noble cousin-the Duke of Kumbi Saleh-is getting married a day later than I have first thought, which will make it unable for me to make the game again next week (this is most annoying for me, but completely unavoidable). I shall redouble my efforts to find a sub but-if I am the only one missing-please feel free to continue without me for just that session. I will be back for the 20th and the 27th without fail!

Yes I think you are right. The important thing is that people keep playing. So in light of that, all the Otts need concern themselves with is, is finding a sub for this session.
